Red Sea Silicone Concern

Hello,

I made the mistake of purchasing a Red Sea S-1000 a year and a half ago after being talked into it by the owner of @TopShelfAquatics who had assured me that Red Sea had fixed their issues. Given the consistent failures seen and the lack of their issues being fixed, even with their newer models, I'm rather paranoid. I noticed some bubble looking areas on the bottom portion of the front of my tank today. Unsure if these are new or have always been there. Not sure if its cause for concern or not.

Any thoughts on if I should be worried outside of general concern around Red Sea's product?

This red square is almost on the underside. not directly exposed to water. This is where my concern lies. The part touching the water seems fine.

This looks more like water or something under the exterior edge of the front viewing pane…

can you clean the glass in that area and try getting another photo?

I do not see the classic Red Sea failure here. The classic RS failure is at the top of the silicone where you will see sand get between the glass and the silicone. This is not happening here from what I can tell

Hopefully you’re correct. The anxiety of owning a large Red Sea tank is not enjoyable. Hoping it can hold out a few more years until I am able to replace it with something more reputable.

Do you have an air compressor, or can you go get a can of computer dusting compressed air if not?

Blasting out the seam between the tank bottom and leveling mat with compressed air will displace and/or rapidly evaporate standing water!

hard to know for sure. best bet right now is take some good photos so you can compare over time and look for progression. If progression, then you know you are at greater risk.
I am the victim of a failure myself. catastrophic failure.

Sorry you have to suffer such anxiety.

My Glass Cages tank is both bottom braced and top (Euro) braced. Hopefully you next tank can be custom-designed to your preferences.

Looks like moisture or salt creep buildup to me. You might want to try taking a photo of the seam from a more front-facing angle.

Does this tank have a plastic pad on the bottom? Looks like it could have and that would explain the visual captured in your images. That pad doesn’t need to be water tight, the thick black seal above it does and it appears ok so far.

My failure was dead center of the seam, Friday night great, Saturday night 6" split, mark it with marker 8:00am Sunday I had a seven inch split..... The End

That really looks like a bad join to me.

Take photos with a ruler in shot so you can accurately gauge any progression over time. Both close up and wider shots to give a sense of
