Red_Beard's 75 Tank Build

All is calm on the baby front... for the next 10 minutes at least. We had our first well baby follow up yesterday and he is healthy as an ox! (other than the broken clavicle, which is healing nicely)
Loafing around the house, running the kids all over the place, running the wife's errands, and running low on sleep has been á l'ordre du jour :)
Anyhow. I have been staring at my tank an noticing it is need of some pruning! The fire engine stings and dominates that green monty, so it went full medieval and decided to implement some seige warfare tactics:

Needs a 'circumcision' to free up that base.

I refilled my salt water drum and have it mixing up, still need to dial it in to 1.026-27. I want to get some zoas from the zoa heap lined out in a proper zoa island (ive had an Aqua Rocks frag island soaking in the sump for a month or so now, should be ready to go! (For anyone in the market, the frag rack I got from them has been awesome, highly recommend!) Not sure how far i will get today, but lets find out!

Happy to hear Finn is like his dad.

Zoa Island? Yes.

Look at you throwin' around French sayings and all trying to convince us your sophisticated.

Lol, you know me, 'bout as fancy as a penguin with a monocle : )

I did get that plate trimmed up. I ended up tossing a ton of hammer skeleton too to make room for that zoa island, and pruned some of my sticks, but that's a far as i got in my tank.
I cleaned a bunch of gha off the walls and equipment in my daughter's tank and we ran to petco (the only lfs within 2 hours of here, which has a surprisingly good and healthy fish selection) to see if we could find a lawnmower blenny and some snails. No dice. We did however run into a nice gentleman and his wife looking at the saltwater fish. He and i got to talking and long story shorterish they popped over later and i gave them 2 of the nems I still had in that specimen container stuck to the glass. I still have 2, which I am going to see if I can give to the hospital. That and maybe one of those rocks covered in AOG zoas. The hospital tank was nice and clean, but pretty barren. One of the dudes i work with knows the guy in charge of maintaining it, I'm going to hit him up for his number.

Loving the contrast in the pic. Very nice!

Cool story about making a new friend at Petco. I'm sure you told him about R2R and warned him that, if he signs up, there's a lot of riff-raff that are members.

Nearest Petco to where I live is about 45 minutes away. However, I live less than 10 minutes away from a LFS.

You know i did! I spread the word to anyone that would listen. Like Johnny Appleseed.

Less than 10 mins from and lfs would be dangerous. I would be there waaaay to often. Speaking of, how is your vat of rock and sand doing? You have any premonitions of what you are going to assemble your 'scape yet?

The rock, sand and fish are all doing well. I do need to do a removal of some of the sand I got from the beach. I simply added too much. Good news is that I adjusted the Gyres so that they blew most of the "sugar" sand into one of the corners of the tub. Well, that was the plan anyways and it looks like it worked. If it's heavily mixed with the Arag-alive then I'll just pull out what needs to come out and add 80 more pounds of the Arag-alive. Next trip to the beach I'll collect a whole lot of pods.

I kind of have premonitions on a scape. However, I still have some boxes of Caribsea rock to go through. Additionally, I'll be getting live rock from TBS as base rock so this could cause changes to what's in my head. Also, what's in my head doesn't always come to fruition. Thankfully so for some people.

I did/do not want to start a build thread too early and am happy I followed this path as getting the tank is taking some time. In defense of eShoppes, I did tell them there was no big rush. Plus, I am going to pull new dedicated circuits. Two for the tank and one for the mixing station. Overkill? Yes but I like overkill. There is also plumbing I still need to run. I am not looking forward to having to do the attic work in the heat. This is why I have been putting it off.

He's still waiting on tank delivery to be scheduled.
True and if anyone would know then it would be you.

Sounds like excuses 🤔
You want the excuses? You can't handle the excuses! 🤣
