Does anyone know if a Meridian 45 would be a good light for a tank with the dimensions of 47.24 inches long 27.56 inches wide 23.62 inches tall.

I want to have primarily sps, so high par possibility is a must. I plan to have some LPS at the bottom portion of the tank.

Looking for recommendations.

The deciding factor will be if you have center bracing. If you have center bracing then yes the 45 is a good option.

If you do not have center bracing then the Meridian 35 will also work for a mixed reef with SPS.

Hi, I am looking at the Meridians too. I will be getting a 48" x 22" x 22" (no center bracing) tank soon which will be SPS dominated. I was hoping you could chime in a little more... Is the 45 going to be overkill on a 48" tank? Or spill to much light off the side of the tank?

I just read from another post with similar dimensions...
From Reef Breeders :" If there’s no center bracing and you like to have your lights mounted lower than 12” above the water line then go with a 45 bundle, if you mount your lights around 14” or more above the water the 35 bundle is sufficient for most reefers but some still like to have the extra kick from the 45. "

If it’s an SPS dominant tank most of our users are going for the Meridian 45, light spill won’t be a problem.
