How is the light spill/glare on these? My wife hates the spill from the Kessils… might be my saving grace when we get a surprise upgrade for Christmas. Not look honey I bought these lights for you, but more like she won’t be as mad afterwards when she realizes the house has less of a blue glow 😂

I had an amazing conversation with Liam. Sent in a picture of my tank and he called me directly. Subjected my coworkers to that crazy nerd conversation we had. They’re good sports 😂
But long story short he recommended Meridian 45 at least 16 inches off water for full spread, he said since I have to use the BOT mounts I’ll be at 14” max. So with that he pointed towards the wider optic (sorry don’t remember the name) vs the full bundle. He didn’t believe I’ll have a light spill issue either way.
But the bundle… oh the bundle. Could have Acropora halls to the wall lol
Only one plug/power brick if purchased directly.
With the 14k new led layout and the uv/blue bar I’d have total color control.
Can angle the bars in getting all those undersides of the corals illuminated! Also they have a year no interest consumer credit option. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Funny how fast around a grand can become over $2k in this hobby fast 💰 💨
I still haven’t made a final decision. Between meridian 45 with wider optics, or buy once cry once with the bundle! Sounds like 2 BOT mounts should still work since my tank is “sturdier than an aqueon”

Good luck on your choice. Whatever you end up doing I'm sure you will be happy with the lights performance.

Thats an interesting idea, was it suggested by them to use the new 14k meridian with UV/blue bar?

I was planning for a original meridian and two 14k bars.

Does anyone know if Amazon hanging kit would work? I would prefer silver wire rather than black

Yes Liam said the blue/uv bars are a great compliment to the 14k Meridian. Basically when you add the blue from the bar you get everything they took out of the original to create the “shallow reef” back (they’re officially calling it shallow reef from this point forward 14k was just the first name they came up with). The new shallow reef color and the blue uv bars seems like it offers the best of all worlds for the most adjustability. You can choose crazy fluorescence and non visible uv along with tuning the whites from cool to warm exactly how you want. He seemed very excited about the possibilities with this new combination.

Thanks for the reply. I’m confident it is awesome after my research here and talking to Liam. Sleek BOT mounting, no light spill, modular structure, customizable optics, and being able to run off of a single power brick are all strong benefits I’m seeing. Then there’s the par power, and the new color option was a big deal to me. I want my tank to be white most of the day in peak hours and then still have some blue time in the evening. The new shallow reef color is exactly what I wanted. I mean they’re nailing it, and 20% off with consumer credit 0% for a year available on site is also nice.
Some final selling points were seeing the BOT mounts on @MegabiteOG ‘s tank. And of course the results from the likes of @Battlecorals and @Troylee can’t be denied 👍🏻

The bundle with the new shallow reef meridian is now available on the website. Just placed my order with what Liam suggested (shallow + UV/blue). One reason he gave me is that the UV and white are on the same channel on the 14K bar, so you can't raise the UV without the white.

Anyway, my tank is still in its shipping box in the garage, so I have a long way to go..

If you are going to run a 45, I look at using three BOT mounts especially if you add Edge bars. It would lessen the torque on the rim of the tank.

Question for those using the BOT mount. How far does the bar extend over the tank? I want the meridian centered over the tank, side to side. Does that make sense? Meaning, my tank is 24" wide, will the BOT arm be long enough to center the light?

I have the Edge bars mounted front and back of my two Kessils. You can't see the glare from the Edge bars, but you most definitely can from the Kessils. The lens of the Kessils hangs down outside of the housing which causes a terrible glare unless you have the light shades. The Edge and Meridian LEDs are set behind the glass so you don't have the glare issue

I run just two BOT mounts on a 6 foot tank with the Meridian 63.

If you do get shadowing, as you know, you can always add light bars later.

Thanks for that. Liam had confidence a sturdy tank like mine with 1/2” glass would be fine with only two BOT mounts. I might opt for 3 if I do the bundle out of an abundance of caution.
I’m torn on adding light bars later or just jumping in head first bc I know I’m going to want the angled light at the underside of my acropora, especially at the front and back of my rock work.
Just the main fixture would be an easier pill to swallow financially though. Just the main fixture will definitely be an upgrade over what I have now. I also like the idea of just the main fixture as I think it will look very sleek with the BOT mounts.

Decisions, decisions. I’m planning to decide after further consideration over this weekend.

I go through the same justification issues myself.

But I think you're in great shape with just the main light for now, and you can assess/see how the coverage looks, and add to it down the road if needed.

That happens when you create a new account rather than logging in with the original email you used.

I didn't create a new account and had been using the new app for a while when it happened. TBH I didn't think anything of it and figured an update came out or something. It happens randomly with many of my apps and only happened once.
I was just replying to the OP not complaining 😉
I'm perfectly happy with the new app and like it best out of the 5 different lighting apps I've used.

Ordered the manual controls, and both the BOT and the side mounts.
One of the best decisions I made with regard to the order was getting the manual control feature. Once I get more acquainted with the fixure I will play with the app.
Currently using the side mounts, but I am going to change over to the BOT. I think the light needs to be higher secondary to shading on the ends.
There is no light spillage, the shimmer is not overwhelming. Currently I am only running the fixture at 25%.
I have been only running the fixture for 3 days but my zoanthids look noticeably better already.
I will be adding the 14k blade soon.
My tank is the IM 25 lagoon.

Ordered my Meridian 45 should have it and be able to setup Sunday! 🤞🏻
Shallow reef and wide spread optics due to my shallow and wide tank. Also wide optics due to 14” max mounting height with BOT mount. Excited to see how it looks!

Don’t know if it has been answered, but yes. Lots of adjustability and can take just about to the front edge of a 24” tank.
