What mounting height would you recommend here @Reef Breeders ? Based on what I’m reading, I may have a went with to big of a light for what what I need.. I choose the meridian 45 over the 35 on my 48x24x24 tank (no center brace). From what I’m gathering here if I go with the recommended mounting height of 14” above I’m going to have light spill over side to side. So I should make the mounting height lower than that, but if I do so I will sacrifice the coverage front to back?

That depends how high you want to mount your light. It’s not a problem we have different optics to accommodate almost every mounting height.

I recommend getting a PAR meter preferably the apogee 510 or Vabira and use that as a point of reference to determine when/if you want to make any adjustments to your current setup.

Just to clarify, when I say approximately 14 inches, that does not mean it has to be exactly 14 inches. “Approximately” means it is a general range, not an exact number. So you could have the light at 12, 13, 15, or even 16 inches and still be within that ideal zone. Fourteen inches is just the midpoint. The default optics are designed to perform best within that 12 to 16 inch range. Once you go outside of that, either higher or lower, you start to move away from the optimal coverage pattern they are intended for.

What size is your tank I’d be happy to recommend what I think will work best. Please list the full dimensions and if there is any center bracing and if you plan to keep SPS.

The tank is 36x15 with 11 inches of depth. The lights (2 meridians) will sit perfectly at 11 inches above the waters surface on my Aquatic Life fixture. Which is only 24 wide. The lights will have about 8 inch spacing between them. Even though one would probably do it, I want two, one for each of my SPS hotspots on the left and right sides my scape.

I am ready for the upgrade. I keep my reef lighting the way you do....with heavy blues throughout most of the cycle and medium par throughout the reef.

Have a waterbox 110.4 48 long and was thinking of getting the Meridian 45 but then read that the 35 would be fine.
For the 300 more should I just go with the 45 ?
I have the photon 48v2 now and love it.
Or just stay with the photon and add bars to the side it's 4 almost 5 years old.
Or buy the new Meridian.
Thoughts ?

The 35 should be ideal for that tank, and if you wanted you could get one of the bars

I came from a photon 48v2 and loved it also. It’s a great light. But I like the meridians better. The optics and spread are even better, the whites are better, I can make spectrums I couldn’t do with the photon.

Thank you! I’ve never used moonlight before but with life the way it is for me I’m frequently up late and like to take a peek in the tank, so having moonlight on allows that.

I love the schedule sharing and how easy RB made it. No files to download, or QR codes to create. It’s just shared right through the app in the community tab.

I rember my first power compact light back in 2008 had a couple of small white leds for moonlight. It was a super cool feature. I never saw it again having gone through T5's and then LEDs Photon V1 to V2. I'm glad they implemented it. My tank is about two feet away in my bedroom or I would rock the stock moon lights for sure.

Schedule sharing is very cool and seamless. Great feature. I had my lights set to 30% across the board and 10% white. After making the switch to your schedule my corals perked up and look happy. Thanks again

@VintageReefer how many increments can be set with the schedule on the new meridians? I run a modified Saxby schedule on my AI Primes and I would like to do something very similar with the meridians when I get them.

Obviously are a significantly lower overall intensity.

I don’t know if there is a limitation

I just made 20 segments as a test and no issue
