Hey.. thanks for sharing your pictures.. but don't see much sps.. do u think this would be good for a mixed reef?
I think it would do great for a mixed reef with sps.

And if you go sps dominant or have shading issues…they make matching led bars that mount direct to the light, articulate, and can get powered from the meridian itself. The bars are 2 channel and can be controlled manually or via wifi with the app

Sorry! I’m confused now!

Do you have RB edge bars and wondering if you should get a meridian?
No.. i have the meridian 35 and the 14 k side bars.. been playing with it and never vave got what im looking for.. ur tank is how i would like mine to look like

It’s a hidden gem that doesn’t start like this

It’s Sbb yellow fever. And I lost that piece in an alkalinity…event. We’ll call it that

I have a new one coming and will have to start over with it

It starts off all yellow. It can go all green in too little par. But when you find the right spot…bump up the par a little…a unicorn is born

Came in like this

I star my acros in low par while they adjust from shipping and adjusting to a new tank. Started turning green but also got pinkish tips

Started increasing height and raising it up

Then I parked it and by june

And then I lost it first week of july.

Sbb just had 2 frags for sale last week, I picked one up, I’m gonna put it in the same spot and try for the same results

I didn’t share my side bar schedule, until now!

Select your group with the bars then go to community

Thank u.. i am running the one u have for the main
It’s optimized for night viewing. Like 7 pm onwards by default as that’s when I’m available to view the most and I like more pop then

Beautiful piece. Good luck with the replacement!

I’m looking to replace my lights over my 4’ x 18” tank.. currently have Red Sea ReefLEDs and i am not satisfied… my main complaints are..
1) too many drastic shadows on my SPS
2) Narrow blue spectrum. No ability to adjust for preferred color pop on acros.

I’m interested in a reef breeder meridian because for just over 1k I can adequately light my size tank, compared to competition like Ecotech, Dalua, or Orphek being almost double.

Can people weigh in on the color pop these lights offer compared to the other brands mentioned above?

Nice pieces. I knew a few looked familiar. I have a bunch from SBB as well. I just got back into this after a 16 year break (Life/ work), but loved it so much. Had 3 reef tanks with a 180 as my main display. My wife kept telling me to get back into it so I did. Really having fun. Started out with a 24x24x20 cube and a 48x24x21 standard. I put Reefled g2 115 on the tank and really like them. Great shimmer good growth. BUT, I’m mainly going for an SPS dominant tank and no way those lights are going to keep up with the growth (power/ shadowing).

So tomorrow I get my Merdian’s. Picked a couple of the 24’s for it which I know it’s overkill, but can just pick up another light when I eventually go bigger. Looking forward to putting the over the tank and seeing how it looks and performs. I come from the MH days and was supplementing with T5’s and Powerbrites.

Thanks for all the info you’ve provided and shared. Helped me with choosing these.

Here’s a pic of my 180 from back in the day.

By default it’s a blue heavy fixture and has a ton of pop, but you can add in other channels to increase brightness or white, while retaining great color pop.

There is a pic of a harlequin shrimp below that shows how natural white you can go. And then blue pics and pics inbetween

Pop is not a problem
Your pics and tank look great.. it’s just hard to know what corals will look like in real life compared to orange filtered photos.
I’m probably extra sensitive to it because it’s my main complaint about the ReefLEDs.

I use filters to adjust to real life. It’s very close. I have to stack orange and yellow filters together otherwise it comes out “enhanced”.

I can also rotate my filters to control how much of each is applied. It’s a gradient. I adjust to match in person viewing. I need to have darkness for all ambient lighting. Night time + room lights off. Otherwise it ends up affecting the pic

I will add. Usually the sandbed or the rocks color is off. It’s a trade off. If I want the corals accurate, then the sand or rocks are wrong. Unless I am very far back for full tank shots

Well, I put in the new Meridians on the tank yesterday. I went with 2 - 24's (48x24x21 tanks) for redundancy and the flexibility to move to a bigger or smaller tank in the future by removing or adding lights. Replaced two Red Sea G2 115's which I really liked (GREAT shimmer) and were growing corals fine. I knew the tank would outgrow those light so I changed them out. I haven't really messed with the lights much but my first impression is these are REALLY nice lights. I was running the Red Sea's at 80% and these were putting out more par in more areas of the tank at 35%. Lots of overhead! Even my wife walked by the tank when I still had one of each light on and said "wow, it looks so much better. It's worth the change". There's so much more light and coverage that even my PH went up that's usually on the low side. Now, we'll see how they actually perform and grow coral. I think they will do great. Here are a couple of initial pics of the setup.

You’re going to get a lot more coverage and better spectrum out of the meridians. That last pic looks great!
