Just checking if anyone uses only reef brite on their tanks as the main light source? I was wonddering how many do you use and what combination of bars are you using?

Pros & Cons to having only a reef brite fixture?

So the reef brite can't grow coral as a stand alone?
They’re just 450nm and 470nm diodes that are cheaply made. I’m sure they can grow corals okay, but they don’t have a good track record for reliability. I mean, if you already have some, use them. But if you’re considering buying them, there are far better options out there, with Quanta Helix being my preferred LED bar. Corals need more than just blue, but I’m sure some influencer will tell you that all you need are blue LED’s. Full spectrum is optimal for coral health, which is what I always recommend.

I appreciate the advice. I have a chance to get some 60 inch bars (for a really good price) to use on my new build. I believe it is a blue, a uv, and a 50/50 bar. So it wouldn't just be all blue.

I dont have any lights yet, so just doing my homework. The 3 used reef brites with mount are cheaper than a 3 bar set of the Quanta Helix.

I'm not used to just white and blue only, so I was just looking for advice.

Thank you!

But I dont want to

Check the lenses. They seem to brown.

If you got them cheap and were using them along with other fixtures, it might be okay, but I wouldn’t use them as my main light source, there are far better options out there. Nicrew fixtures are great for budget friendly options, but if you want to go with bars, spend the money on something that will last and has the right spectrum for corals. Email Luca at Quanta and give him some info on your setup and he’ll help you get the right combo. You can start with just a couple bars now and add later on if needed. He also has some panel lights coming out in a couple months, which may be better suited to your needs. But regardless, I would steer clear of any used reef brite bars.

I've been talking to Luca at Quanta. I think I am going to go that route. I had no idea they even existed. Thank you so much for educating me!
Luca is awesome and so are his lights. He’s just a small business, so he doesn’t advertise or market his stuff, so it’s all by word of mouth and first hand experience. I’ve been using his lights for a few years now and absolutely love them. Let us know what you wind up with (what combo?).

I believe I'm leaning towards the 4 pack combo, 71 inch. BLUE+: 2 Reef Crest Daylight & 2 Meso Blue

I'm wrapping up all of my dry fitting on the new tank, and should be gluing and leak testing this weekend hopefully. Then it will be on to aquascape.

I understand the 2 year warranty starts at purchase time so I'm kind of holding off on buying the lights until I'm closer to being ready for them!
