He’s talking about on a Reefbrite ballast
Yes, I was talking specifically about the ReefBrite ballast, but it goes to all electronic ballasts as well.
It's not a big deal to many people, but the fact is that the 250W Radium was designed and therefore should be run with M80.
There is a difference.

Here found this picture from when I switched from Hamilton’s to radiums and lost 60 par I then went from radiums to reefbrites and jumped up to 365 par

I have no idea where my par meter was at I think it was on my little cliff halfway up the tank but there was a noticeable loss of par

And for the Brightness ur just going to have to beleive me because it won’t come thru a photo

The radiums need to be run at 275 watts the Reefbrite ballast will only go as high as 255 so the math doesn’t add up and u loose a lot of par because of it
So your saying that the reefbrite bulbs produce more par than the Hamilton 20k?
Good to know. Don’t need them yet because my corals are getting blasted as is but when I upgrade I’ll definitely go to the reefbrite bulbs.

Good stuff here. Has anyone done any measurements showing spread for their reflectors. They seem a lot smaller than some of the other ones. Also, the size of their ballast. I have one of the select a watt ones and it is the size of a shoe box...very hard to put anywhere. How larger are their 250 watt models?

Yes Reefbrite bulbs had higher par but I have not had the best of luck with them four bulbs three failures i might still have the one good one left if u want to try it out.

I run Hamilton’s now and like them so much I bought two years worth on Black Friday

Fourty par isn’t that much if the Hamilton’s are working for you now and things are growing i would let it be

Par isn’t everything I think DLI is more important

Are you running DE or Mogul. I have a few DE 250 reflectors and select a watt ballast. It would be nice to have a Radium style bulb without having to buy a bunch of reflectors.

I love my 36" SE MH/LED Reefbrite I also use the 10k/20k Dual arc. I freaking love it. I've used AI Vegas, AI Hydras, T5 supplement,. Then Kessil AP700's. Then last it was the ATI 8 Bulb 48" dimmable with two 48" Reefbrite XHO Actinic strips,. These reefbrite pendants are cooler than my ATI T5 setup. Oh. And yes I use the reefbrite 250w digital dimmable ballasts. Picture was without a lens filter. So wayyyy to blue

Does the fixture add extra heat to the room?

of course it adds a little bit of heat just like any light would but like I said it gives off less heat than my T5 fixture did if that helpsand if you've never felt those reefbrite pendants they are extremely cool to the hand you can put your hand on it and it's just warm not hot

We're seriously considering 2 of the 36" reefbrites for a reefer 750xxl. Seems like everyone loves them and they run cool. Now the decision of 250 watt or 400 watt, lol. Really like tridacna but the 750 is a large tank so I'm not sure if 250 watts will be enough
