Is instant ocean reef crystals good for keeping a mixed reef?
I havnt used it but I've seen it recommended constantly. I will be switching to it when I run out of the salt I have purely on a cost basis and the constant good reviews, it's also often on sale through various vendors.

You can use any salt mix successfully in a reef tank. Some might require more dosing to keep the numbers you want but they will all work. Reef Crystals for example, mixes at a high ALK, which won't work for some people but is perfect for others. Depends on the tank.

What size tank? If it's a large tank and you are going to have to dose anyway, may as well just go with plain IO and dose to where you need. Cheap and, IME, tends to be consistent from bucket to bucket. Well, bag to bag if you order the box lol!

It's all I have ever used. I have heard claims that other salts are cleaner etc. but it has worked for me and I wouldn't change. It has been around the longest as well which means something to me.
