So i purchased the reef factory smart tester, to test my phosphates for me. it was almost $700. and while the reviews for the device are good for the most part, the app itself, is the worst developed app for any equipment i have ever seen. from now on i will not only look at reviews of the devices i buy, but i need to go to app stores and look at the app reviews. right now the smart reef app that is required to run the tester, is sitting at an overall average of 1 star ratings. lol. NOONE can get the app to connect properly to wifi. i contacted the help desk and after 10 emails back and forth the most they offered as advice is "did you reset the device".....SMH. i am very tech savvy, i have not only developed web pages, but i build PCs as a hobby, won awards for my builds, etc. I know tech. the problem isnt me, its the app.

With that said. is trident np the only other tester option for phosphates?

everyone i talked to said the trident np is terrible for phosphates, and decent for nitrates. am i just out of luck? i guess ill have to wait for the Maven even though it keeps getting delayed. But is there any others? all i care about is alk and phosphate testing, as those i do the most frequent.

I agree with you about the app that could be better, and myself had a connectivity issue with the smart roller that I was able to figure out, but I've been supper pleased with support. Have you tried Facebook chat instead of tickets?

Do try to reset it, that’s how I made it connect

i reset it like 100 times. its stuck at the spot in the image below, where it says searching for wifi....it doesnt detect my wifi, or even any of my dozen nearby neighbors.....it detects none. i messaged them on facebook and they just referred me to their email......so i doubt they are gonna do anything for me beside tell me to reset again.....

Do you have 2.4 GHz band enabled?
Yessir. Not only do I. But I have neighbors with 2.4. There’s should show up if the problem was my router. The problem is the app itself. Has to be. Not the device because my phone connects fine to the device tester. It’s not my router as for reason stated above. That means it’s the app

It’s not the app, but the device. App connected, but device is struggling to find WiFi.

Reeffactory equipment is patchy.
Both quality of components & app.
Often just rebounded equipment.
I have a doser that does the job & a ph meter.
The app is fairly awful.

Might only connect to 2.4hz signal and not 5.hz. idk just my two cents

Yea I have a 2.4 and a 5ghz channel. It won’t detect either. Or my neighbors. That’s how I knew it wasn’t my router that’s the issue. But I still think it’s the app. Because thr phone/app is what’s searching for WiFi signals to choose from. And when no list appears for me to select that’s the app. Like the device itself connects to phone fine. You can see the app says “device connected” then goes to “searching for WiFi” and just never shows a list to choose from. But I’m just disappointed in the customer service. They responded only with “did you try factory reset”. I told them yes. They asked how I did it. I told them. Then they never responded again.

I just bought 4 of these devices for myself and my 3 friends, and they all work well. However, the Po4 reagent they currently provide seems to be a new version, where the second reagent bottle is 35ml, but the app only recognizes 25ml. My friends are all getting accurate readings compared to Hanna, but mine seems to be slightly off. I plan to recalibrate it again this weekend.
I think you should check your WiFi device, or the Smart Tester you purchased might have a faulty WiFi module.

the last thing you said. i believe its faulty. i tried connecting on not just my mobile iphone, but an android tablet too. and on my PC. same problem on both....

One common hardware piece with everything you mentioned is also your WiFi router.

To those who have one, are you finding you get about the 160 tests on the PO4 test? I'm thinking about getting one as it much cheaper to get into than Apex (I would need the controller, trident, and trident NP)
