I recently received a red Hawaiian reef lobster with a damaged claw. I’m assuming it’ll heal when he molts, but is there anything I can do to help it heal? I did add a half dose of lugols, something I do weekly in all my tanks. Right now the lobster is in quarantine.

It should be normal after a molt or two I’d think. It’s been awhile since I’ve messed with lobsters though, I forget if all species can fully heal.

Good to hear, this is my first lobster so I guess I’m just a little cautious. How often do they usually molt in your experience?

Monthly when they are young, then a few times a year as they get older. This was for rock lobsters though.
