Anyone use or know anything about the reef octopus skimmer? I'm looking at the Reef Octopus DNW 110 Recirculating Protein Skimmer. Or is there a better one? The total system volume is about 80 gallons. Let me know what ya'll think
Thanks

i have had one on my tank before i had to tear it down and loved it. i am setting my tank back up now and i am going to put it back on

i've got the nw110 (not the recirc model). I love it. it's on a 100g tank with sump of unknown volume (10-15g).

works great, always pulling some dark skimmate. i would have no hesitation at all to buy another octo. excellent skimmers for the buck. on an 80g, would for sure do you well.

I have a DIY with an Octopus turbine pump. It does a great job. If I were to buy a protein skimmer, I would buy the Octopus after seeing the micro-bubbles the pumps put out. I've had this going for 5 days now and really starting to pull out some black skimmate. Pic is of day one.

The octopus skimmers are one of the best bangs for the buck on the market currently.

What type of corals do you plan on keeping? For a low nutrient sps tank of 80 gallons, I would suggest moving up to the 6 inch skimmer either the NW-150 or DNW-150, the 50% larger diameter makes it work much much better.

i've got the ddnw-150 (6" with dual 500gph recircs) and absolutely love it. I also sell a great many octopus skimmers at our store, the quality of the skimmers really speaks for itsself, not to mention a low price.

They are awesome skimmers. When you are ready to purchase or have questions let me know. I am a distributor for Reef Octopus, CoralVue and Reeflux.

I have the DNW-110 recirculating skimmer on my 75. Its a beast! Great skimmer for the money.

Thanks for the info. I picked one up last weekend for a local club member! Can't wait to get the sump and get it going!
