I’m in a dilemma with my saltwater reef tank. I have 4 fish in my DT currently with 3 hermits, 3 snails, and one tuxedo urchin in a 75 gallon reef tank. Two clownfish, one YWG, and one royal gramma. I have a 10 gallon QT with a Blue Sided fairy wrasse I got 4 weeks ago. I also have 8 hermits, 18 snails of variety of kinds in the same 10 gallon QT - observation only. I’m worried my snails are starting to die off, there’s no more algae or anything left in the tank. I supplement the hermits and snails with algae wafers a couple times a week.

My original plan was to QT the fish for 6 weeks then put it in the DT if it was still doing well. Then QT the inverts another 4-6 weeks without a fish host present before putting them into my DT. My DT is getting out of hand already, tons of algae growth that is getting worse each week. It’s been up and running for 8 months, so it’s just the next natural phase I think. The issue is some of my CUC died off going into the DT so I only have 7 inverts in 75 gallons.

I’m already seeing snails die off in the QT even with supplemental feedings. What do you all think I should do? The fish has been very healthy, zero red flags. I’m tempted to move the fish, inverts, or all of them into the DT sooner rather than later, tossing out my original plan.
