curious why the change ?
Man it’s been a while since I’ve logged on. I removed one MH to see how much difference it would make on temperature. It was getting to around 81f so just wanted to try it out…… plus I struggle allot whether I should just go all LEDs. LOL

Finally after over a year and a half I got my stand stained and coated. I’m happy with the results. Now I gotta install some LEDs and switches to turn lights on when I open the doors.

Yea that chip won’t hurt the integrity of the tank. But upgrades are always fun so better hurry and do it before the tank blows!

Built a couple of shelves for my Redsea dosers and ran tubing through pvc pipes to hide them for a cleaner look. Will order grey 90s and tee’s and replace these temporary white ones so plumbing will match.

Well I’ve finally swapped to full Radion. I have ran Hamilton Radium 250W’s and Radion LED combo for years and finally transferred to full LED. Reason for the change….. Heat. I couldn’t run my MH’s for longer than 3.5 hours without display temp.getting hotter thean I’d like. A few months ago i installed a UV Sterilizer and it increased my temp. So now to try full Radion and see how it goes. I just ordered one more XR30. So i will have 8 XR15’s, 4 in the front, 4 in the back and 3 XR30’s In the middle. PAR numbers looked good throughout the tank except a little lower in the center of the tank. I think the 3rd XR30 should even the PAR out.

did you use any high density foam or anything between glass and plywood ? thinking about what i will need for my build . im thinking to either use marine ply or water resistant mdf under my tank only , sealed and coated .. for a cleaner look seeing that i may leave the stand exposed . but alot of people advise against it for tanks without the plastic trim at the bottom

I installed the tank right above the 3/4" plywood, no foam or anything else.. see pg. 3.

ok . i wanted to do something similar because i dont like the look of the foam as i may leave my stand bare .. i am guessing once the surface is truly flat it wouldnt cause an issue with the tank .

Honestly if i remember correctly, the manufacturer said to put plywood under my tank and not foam. i would deff. verify with manufacturer or do a lot more digging and see what is required/recommended for your tank.

I have a 72x36x20. Are those MP40s or 60s?

And does the other end of the tank have the same flow setup?
