I have now been keeping jellyfish for 6 months and love the little
guys, I find them extremely relaxing and super easy to care for.

In order to help other aspiring JellyFish keepers I decided to start a How-to jellyfish series where I walk through all the needed information to successfully setup and keep jellyfish. I'll be updating this thread as I produce more content in the How-To JellyFish series and add tips along the way of what has worked for me!

If you guys have any experiences with Jellyfish or question feel free to chime in as we go! I always appreciate sharing knowledge and learning something new.


Setup and Cycling your Jellyfish tank.
-It's extremely important to fully cycle your tank before adding jellyfish. Many companies recommend waiting 2 weeks, however, I would advise you wait closer to 4 weeks to be safe.
- Adding extra ceramic media goes a long way into adding surface area into for beneficial bacteria to go
-Using bacteria in bottle such as JellyBio Start, Dr Tims or Bio-Spira are highly recommended to jump start your bacteria cycle

Acclimating Your Jellyfish!

Your Jellyfish have arrived.. its time to acclimate those jellys and get them into the tank!
- Ensure you are home when your jellyfish are scheduled to arrive so you can bring them in form the elements. When you first open your package take note of how the water temperature feels, if its very cold or warm you will want to let your jellys sit in the shipping box (with the lid off) for a few hours to equalize the water with room temperature.
-Once the bag is around room temperature you can start floating the bag in the tank to equalize the water temperatures
- After about 20 minutes you can slwoly mix a scoop of tank water into the shipping water. Do this every 10-15 minutes until you have replaced all of the water into the back. Once you have replaced all of the water (or doubled it) you should be sage to release your jellyfish into their new home!

How often do u have to feed them

I feed mine daily when i'm, home... however i have went out of town for 4 days and they have been fine when i got back

Ok because I want to get it for my moms class instead of an invert tank but I didn’t want to have to feed daily as she isn’t there on Saturday or Sunday

They will be fine over the weekends, just give they a good feeding on the the Friday

Your Jellyfish tank should now be cycled and your jelly's acclimated! Next you need to know how to feed your Jellyfish. There is dry powder food and live food. I prefer/recommend feeding live baby brine shrimp as its an extremely nutritious (and easy) way to keep your jellys happy and healthy!
