So I’ve finally have been able to get my dream 150 gallon tank! But she’s a bit of a project so as much as I want to fill it up right away I have some things to do first . It’s already drilled, has over flow, came with a sump, ato water tank, and what I was told are two “China box lights”. I can’t wait to get this thing going my other tank is a 65 gallon with hang on filter and hang on protein skimmer and I’m running out of room in there. Before I get it running I will need to buy and install all plumbing, sand down stand and canopy and stain darker, install new handles on stand, aquascape and figure out how the hell to transfer my 65 gal into this new tank safely. So if anyone has any idea on how to transfer tank to new tank I will take any advice available, also any input on maintaining such a large tank like this as I’ve never had anything this scale before. Oh also any ideas for stocking would be cool too as I’m having trouble with that as well, current fish are, lighting maroon clown, hippo tang, six line, diamond goby, and a green chromis.

Congrats!!! What an exciting project! You should be able to transfer everything at the right time from the 65 to the 150 seamlessly. Little to no cycle issues. How I’ve done that, now twice (larger upgrades) is an addition of live sand (because of bigger tank) and it’s benefits. And Dr. Tims. Do this when you’re transferring your live rock and as much of your own syphoned, not rinsed sand from your tank. Keep as much of your clean tank water as possible. Possibly when you’re taking out the fish. Then add, keeping salt add temperature identical in new build as old tear down. Good luck. Sounds like fun.

Thanks for the tips! Hopefully gonna switch over either this Sunday or Monday, only thing that sketches me out is putting my corals in the new tank and having a cycle issue that kills them. Gonna be checking parameters like a mad man.

The stress on the corals should be no more stressful than when a lfs employee pulls a coral out of one of their tanks, bags it, and sends you on your way to acclimate it to your tank. :)

Been awhile since I’ve updated and lots of changes. Upgraded lights to 2 hydra 32’s, sr ato hooked up, got my automatic doser i need to hook up just waiting on getting my consumption rates. And the last piece my 52 watt uv sterilizer just trying to find the right spot to put it. Been struggling with fish and ich. It’s been a huge learning process but taking as much info in from all of you guys and making it work. Here’s some pics of the process
