I am interested in sharing my experience of reefing as a way to cope with combat PTSD. It has really changed my life. I spent 21 years in some
of the Army’s toughest units and at one point was close to ending my own life. This “hobby” saved my life.

I was thinking about writing an article. Can anyone tell me how to submit one?

Also, let’s share our experience. How many of you have gone through something unimaginable and/or horrible and turned to reefing as a way to escape and processes things? How many of you are willing to share how this has helped you?

It may not even have to be something extreme. How has reefing helped you through something?
Reefing saved my life from alcohol/drugs... I was a worthless human being for over 12 years... implementing aa and reefing in my life has kept me on track to live life the way its supposed to be... I always applaud ones honesty, Its the only way to truly help the healing process... Thank you for your service my man... You are a hero to many people... much love my friend!!!

My reef tank definitely is a positive thing in my life. I have recovered from some issues in my life, but they were self imposed and not comparable to PTSD. My reef is one of the things in my life, along with my family and my faith, that keeps me on the straight and narrow. I am happy to hear that yours has helped you. I would like to read that article should ypu write it, and maybe it would help others as well.

Issues are issues. No one is more than another. We all have our dark demons that we carry around.

Thank you for sharing.

Also, thank you for keeping us safe. We appreciate what you do for the homeland!

Thanks so much for posting this!

We need to talk about the non profit we are starting for vets with ptsd
Would love to be involved with that. I started writing and realized it was too long. I will likely post my thoughts and expertise in parts.

I have had times that even my therapist was not able to help and reefing was my out. Aside from my amazing and supportive family, I would say my reef has been my second biggest life saver, and, it is always there.

Does anyone get “tank sick” when they are on vacation? I do! I mean, I love vacations but there is something soothing about coming home to your reef and watching it thrive.
I'm glad your in a better place my friend. There are many military brothers and sisters here, your never alone.

The above is correct, contact @Seawitch she handles all the articles:)
But @Crabs McJones
I think that @Gonzo74 wants to do an article along the lines of how Reefing is like Glitter for stress, and Crabs Mcjones is the only guy on here with the glitter badge!
lol
I'm currently in therapy for all my past sins and the irony is that I've had to learn how to de-stress to enjoy my life and my reef more fully. Having a reef tank to maintain has been a task more than a blessed distraction for me, but I'm glad it's working for you Gonzo74.

We all need to help each other move forward as best as we can. Looking forward to the article.

Also, thanks for your service. The price of freedom is very high for the folks who serve us in the military. I owe you a coral or two, no doubt>

Thanks to all the folks who read this and have served in the military, police, fire, etc.

Thanks @KrisReef !

It’s the tasks that keep my mind from going places I don’t want to go.

Also, not having Soldiers to nurture and keep alive really hit me hard. Taking care of my reef gives me something else to nurture and keep my mind on.

@Crabs McJones wha is with the glitter banner. I am not familiar with that story.
