That is a darn pricey snack for sure. In my old 29 mine was a snack for the vortech. Lasted two days, if that. Luckily I'm already pass that with this one and there are no shrimp in here :)
Thank you. I've kind of gotten addicted to the cube like style and after being overwhelmed by my 90 a few years ago, I kind of like tanks on the smaller side for me. Love the bigger ones, but with the room I have I'm sticking to this and enjoyed other peoples large tanks ;)

Well, too good to be true. Looks like Mr. Anthias may be finding a new home. He got too big for his britches and is all of a sudden the bully of the tank. Chasing the helfrichi and trying to show the basslet who's boss. I knew they could get aggressive, but I thought I had a few years, not a few days. Lights are going out until tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully I'll be able to catch him and find him a new home. So far mostly just chasing and boasting, but with the basslet I'm not going to risk anything. If he's like this at 2", imagine as he gets bigger. On a side note, the basslet isn't really taking his crap, but again, it's not worth losing any fish, especially not him.

I know. I'm very sad. He was so cute and a cool fish to have overall. He was looking for trouble though. We did FINALLY catch him though last night so that's good. I hate trying to catch fish. It was funny though because it appeared as if the basslet was trying to help us by chasing him out if holes. Apparently he has too much of being bullied too. He only did it while we were trying to get the anthias so it was ironic.
Anyway, glad that drama is over. On a side note, the basslet and helfrichi are doing great and eating like pigs. I'm sure they'll enjoy their peaceful tank now.

Yeah, I'm bummed, but it what it is and I can't risk it, especially with my basslet. I'm glad I was able to catch him too. It was not easy and I'm lucky the tank is pretty empty (not many corals/other fish). We used our empty water jugs to take some of the water out of the tank to eliminate some of his escapes. Catching fish is my least favorite thing. They are so much faster and often smarter than me ;)

Well, the borb is officially gone, but I couldn't resist this little guy I have been eyeing for a few weeks. Sorry for the bad iPhone pic, but that was the best I could get yesterday. This little guy already has a lot of personality. Went straight for the helfrichis den and claimed it his own. My hope is that when I get home I can actually find him again ;)

They are seclusive by nature. Often paired with a shrimp, my guy was not and while I could have gotten one, last time I tried in my other tank I find that shrimp quickly became candy basslet food. So far since I got home I have not seen him, but I'm not surprised. The helfrichi slept in his normal cave, not sure if that was with or without the goby. That's the hardest part, I don't know if he's in that cave or somewhere else. They are small and fast. I'm hoping he'll adapt soon and start showing himself. I'm also hoping he didn't become basslet food overnight...I'll be looking for a long time without luck if that happened :squigglemouth:

Still no luck finding my little buddy. Not totally surprised, but also can't totally deny that, as tiny as he was, he could have also been fish food. Hopefully he will turn up and is just adjusting to his new surroundings.

Unfortunately still no sighting of the goby. I'm losing hope, but not hopeless. I'm not sure if the basslet actually ate him. My thought would be that there would be some remains of him floating around if that was the case. I guess that would be the same case if he died though too. Obviously he is small though and could still be hiding, but in such a small space I would have guess I would have at least seen evidence of him. I'll keep looking and still keep my fingers crossed.

Chrissie, trust me when I say "I feel your pain!!!" This has happened to me before. Unfortunately, more often than not, the fish that I do find are typically in the overflow. I flush them through and my sock catches them. The fish I don't find... well, I don't find. Fortunately for me, they weren't that expensive (most recent: starry blenny, and 3 Bartlett's anthias).

I bet ur guy is still hiding. IMO... That's all those guys do. I wouldn't panic yet.

Yeah, I have been checking my overflow, but haven't checked the sock yet. I think I'm the most worried just because it's a rare fish and I feel bad. He is extremely small though so hopefully he is in fact just hiding. I just feel like I would have seen some sign of him.
Hope you're right. I keep looking around the tank with a flashlight. Every little crevice I can. I was contemplating putting a pistol shrimp in and maybe that would make him more comfortable, if he's not in there though then I'm stuck with a pistol shrimp :) This is the one downfall of securing your rocks...when you want to look around and under them you can't. Unless of course you want to destroy your scape, but that's just not for me.
