Refractometer or salinity tester from Amazon?

My experiences have shown that refractometers are the better way to go, as long as you calibrate them occasionally (which is really, really easy to do). I got mine off of Amazon and have never regretted it.

Hydrometers are great, and probably the most accurate tool for salinity. But they’re also a pain in the rear to use compared to a refractometer, more expensive than most refractometers, and are much more accurate than most of us need them to be. The majority of things in our tanks won’t care if the salinity is 1.024 or 1.026

No matter what you get, test it against a DIY seawater solution, following the instructions on here by @Randy Holmes-Farley . I have tested two commercial, store bought standards against his (one from bulkreefsupply, one from amazon), and the store bought ones were both wrong.
