I'm setting up a new 90g corner flow tank I've been building it for months and I'm on the home stretch and I realize I don't know the proper way to set up a refugium. What I mean by that is what is everyone using for lighting and what are you growing in your refugium and why. Sump is a ruby with a skimz 163 skimmer. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello Eric, I just grow Chaetomorphia in my refugium with a 56K compact fluro bulb. It's a simple setup and works fine for me.. Nice setup by the way.

I have heard the same. in fact my new setup will have 4 led red lightstrips designed for a scrubber. Will be interesting to see how it works !

not a lot of power though only 36 watts combined. Think it's enough?

I have the same tank. I could not grow enough in the fuge to export anything. I ended up dosing vinegar with really good results. Now I have more space in my sump, no algae in my sump, and a much cleaner sump overall. Just less of a headache for me. I know everyone has different opinions though.

Hmmm I like the sounds of a clean sump.

Theres lots of nice tanks with and without. All I have under my stand is skimmer, return pump, apex probes, heater, brs dual reactor, and dosers for Alk, Cal, and vinegar. My tank is full of thriving fish and coral. It took me a long time to find a balance that worked for me. Every tank is different.

So would light spill from the fuge affect the corals during the night? My tank sits on an open stand. At night the fuge light shines up and around to dimly light the tank.

Here is the video I have used and will always reference when I setup or have any questions about a Fuge. I have always had success using these methods.
