Question for Regal Angelfish owners: What kind of LPS corals are you able to keep with your regal angel? Will they eat acans and chalices? I'm interested in getting one.

Reallly its a chance you are taking, no 2 fish will be the same. One might eat all your corals, one might never touch them.

The one I had prefered red acans but eventually nibbled on the green ones as well. He might have nibbled on my cynarina as well but can't remember for sure. I've returned the fish so not sure what else he would eat but most fleshy lps he was interested in. If you really want one just keep an eye on things and just because he doesn't eat it at first doesn't mean he won't eventually. Work around the fish or buy "cheaper" acans/chalices you wouldn't mind losing/relocating to someone elses tank.

Mine eats Zoas/Palys. Any polyp that is closed is fair game. If it's open, it just eat's the skirt off of it. Didn't touch them for the first year then all of a sudden it decided they were a delicacy. It prefers the really rare/expensive ones.

During the first two months my regal did not touch one single coral, but all the sudden he just went to town on all my lps and clams. Love my regal to much so I had to move all my lps to another tank.
