Hello Everyone! :)

In the next few weeks or so, I am going to have to replace a defective tank. The tank is only been in operation for about 2 months now. It is fully cycled and has two clowns in it with a small CUC. It is a RS-S850 G2 (225 Gals).

Should I try and save the water from the tank? I have a mixing station that I can pump the water back into 55Gals, and two brute trash cans.

Should I try and save the sand from the tank? Do I need to clean the sand rinse the sand?

I have a 37 Gal QT tank that is running right now (empty) and was going to drain it clean it, and fill it with the DT water and move the fish and CUC to it.

Any thought or best practices for doing a tank swap would be greatly apricated.

Yes on storing and using all current water

The benefits of sand rinsing is that you can see in the sand rinse thread /50 pages of jobs/ rinsing has a 100% perfect outcome. Non rinsing saves work but has bad outcomes, or we wouldn't do all the work it takes to rinse sand like we do. We do that for 100% safe outcomes (when folks follow the method)

Thanks for the advice, I will try to reuse most of the water.

What's wrong with the tank?
The silicone developed a "hole" in one of the seams.

I would not run one full of water

They've had more than a year to fix this trend, posts show. No other brand is struggling this way. If someone gave me a rs tank of any size I would only run it 1/18th full of water as a terrarium.

How well was neotherm handling heaters a few years ago... nobody else had the cracked case leak black goo issue and rs has selective recurring issues just the same, this seals the deal for me/ still making leak tanks in 2022/ unacceptable
