I just acquired an 150g(72x29x18) tank and there are scratches on both the front side and the back side, I was planning on buying a new sheet of glass and replacing one of the sides to have a new un-scratched front, has anyone else done this? Any Advice? Is this a bad idea?

People do it all the time. How comfortable are you with silicone? :)

Well I haven't used silicone too much, but i do have allot of experience with caulk, fillers, and glue. My dad is a professional cabinet maker and I tend to help him out allot and most of the jobs require caulking and gluing edges of wood and what not.

If you can, buy starfire glass for the front. It's low iron glass. It will look much nicer. Many people have done that.

Easily done, just make sure you get ALL the old silicone off before putting on the new glass, or depending on how deep the scratches are they may buff out.
