INTRODUCTION
What This Build Is:

Anemone clown harem.

What This Build Is NOT:
The "cube" is 36x24x24. Still a cube though, but the Borg probably wouldn't approve.

Goals:
This is my second build thread on R2R alongside my 250 gallon mixed reef build (SPS Dominant). My goal with this tank is to grow and breed BTA's while trying my hand at carpets, maxi mini's, and more. I eventually would like to try and breed clownfish as well, but that's for another discussion...

EQUIPMENT

Water Boxes
  • SCA 90g Cube (36x24x24)
  • Trigger Ruby 30
Filtration/Life Support
  • EShopps Eclipse L Overflow
  • BRS Reef Saver (70-80lb)
  • Tropic Eden Aragavive Reef flakes (80lb)
  • Marine Pure Block (Sitting in my 250g sump)
  • Finnex HPG 300w Heater
  • Tunze Osmolator 3155 ATO
Lights
  • Aquatic Life T5HO LED Hybrid
  • (2) Radion XR15 XR30
  • T5 Bulbs (Not sure of combination yet)
    • Coral+
    • Purple +
    • Blue +
    • True Actinic
Video Journal
Just like my H-Town build thread, this thread will document my progress primarily through video format. I'll always post my videos here directly when the video specifically covers something about the Borg cube.

Current Project - 6/27/2018
I'll be running a bean animal overflow, however SCA only builds larger tanks for durso methods. I'm having custom work done to the tank to remove the internal center overflow box, seal the bottom drilled holes, and drill new back facing holes.

I will be ordering ALL of my parts today! Pls don't tell the girlfriend....

Also, I've made 1 modification to my purchase list. I decided instead of going with the XR15's, to just go straight to the XR30's. Like on my 250, the extra spread and intensity is what I crave.

Update 6/30/18

Marine pure block is in the 250 so I can instant cycle the new 90. All parts are ordered and in looking for a next week delivery for the tank.

Updated my sump plans. I decided to include a manifold with 2 reactor options. With that, I'll need to drill 1" holes into the stand for the return lines as the only opening is the top-middle.

Any thoughts on drilling clean holes through wood (spade bits vs tri bits)? Going to have to drill 1" holes for the return lines.

This is what I've used in the past:

The Borg DO NOT APPROVE!!!!
A cube is a cube is a cube.
Love the Borg reference, when my son started getting interested in girls the ONLY advice I could give him was..
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE, YOU WILL COMPLY!

Tank is almost done after speaking with SCA. Return lines drilled. Silicone is setting and back still needs to be fully painted. The tank should be shipped tomorrow and arrive Friday or next Monday (depends on how 4th of July affects shipment)

I'm following this fantasy Borg Cube build and in my fantasy you're Seven of Nine.....please don't disappoint me!

I'm liking what I see except for the check valves....failure is not acceptable, we are the Borg!

If you're going to use check valves, I'd highly recommend reverse check valves....less likely to fail. Here's an explanation:
