Howdy!

This is my first saltwater tank, but I've been in the freshwater hobby for quiet some time (currently running a dwarf puffer species tank and breeding Taiwan bee shrimp). I will be using this thread as a video journal and discussion area for my build !

Thanks! I just got an update; tank is arriving this Thursday! I now have all my equipment except for the Aquamax reactors (backlog) and acrylic rods for aquascaping.

Update 12/5/2017

Just got an update from the freight company that the tank should be arriving this Thursday. Between then and now, I'll be working on an electrical board to mount my controllers and DJ switch. In the interim, the video below documents the tank crack, some of my equipment, and what I'll be doing next.

Update 12/12/2007

The new tank is in! After much effort, we got it onto the stand with help from my LFS. I was able to begin plumbing the return line and manifold (Still need to add a few unions). Up next will be my electrical panel for my controllers and the drain line.

Finished up my electrical panel! It's a bit uneven on the top, but I'm fine with that considering I did it with a hacksaw (Pro tip: Don't use a hacksaw).

I'm mounting controllers for my maxspect gyre's, vectra M1, and tunze ATO. At the top, I have the DJ switch for controlling all electrical devices.

Update 12/16/2017 - The tank has arrived!

I can't tell you how excited I am to finally share some details about this tank. There are some definite issues with the overflow box itself, but I'll save that for a future update.

Today I did a leak test -- finally -- and it went over perfectly. I found out though that my house's water pressure IS enough to pump water into the tank, but not enough to pump OUT of the tank. Luckily I had the 50' tubing to hook it up outside...

Update 1/8/2018

I did a LOT over the weekend. My house was a war zone. My girlfriend was HIGHLY skeptical at my ability to clean up the mess afterwards. However, after all is said and done, I am SUPER excited how my aquascape turned out and the results so far!

After 2+ months of curing, I present to you my tank!

I'm still making RODI water to fill this. I have terrible city water pressure (38psi) so it's taking awhile, but i'm hopeful that enough bacteria survived to maintain or at least quicken the cycle.

Update 1/14/2018

The quarantine tank is setup, and my first two fish are in. I'm starting with least aggressive, to most aggressive, and I got to have me some clown fish ^_^. My girlfriend wanted to pick one out, so I told her as long as she's paying for it, she can (She picked the snowflake).

I'll admit, I was a bit nervous seeing the initial aggression from the larger Wyoming white, but it settled down within an hour after dominance was asserted.

Assuming the weather clears up, tomorrow I'll be getting my Reef Link and additional PVC. I'll be rebuilding my manifold because I didn't like it. It left the reactors sitting in the water, and after doing some measurements I'm fairly confident I can run pvc through 2 90's and attach the pvc to the top of my stand. I'm so tired of plumbing...

Yesterday was not fun at all. I got packages from LiveAquaria containing a Blue Spotted Jawfish, Yasha Goby, and a Pistol Shrimp. None of them made it because UPS has my package out for delivery for 8 days... My AlgaeBarn package got stuck in the same shipping issue and the Cheato/Pods had also died....

For full details...
