There's nothing wrong with resurrecting old threads, but here are some tips when doing so.
1. If you are asking someone a question about something they posted a long time ago, you might check to see if they are even active on Reef2Reef anymore. Asking someone who has not been on in a year how his new fish worked out is not likely to get a response.
2. Starting a new thread is easy, and likely will get more responses than attaching it onto an old one, especially a very long one. A new thread titled "What do people think of yellow clown gobies" will typically get several responses, while the same question aimed at a particular member from two years ago may not get any.
3. Again, starting a new thread is easy. If the question is not dead on the topic of the old thread, a new one is better. It will generate new discussion, and things may even have changed in some important way since the original thread was first posted. Bringing up a very old thread may start many folks reading it from the beginning, where there may be outdated information.
