Rhomboid Wrasse - Sand burrow?

I have a pair of Rhomboid wrasse coming in this week & was wondering, do they need sand in qt to burrow? Or will they be fine with some rocks and pvc pipe? Can't seem to find a definitive answer online.

Most wrasses require 3” minimum and is beneficial to many fish, inverts besides wrasses

+1 on having a lid on your QT - preferably a mesh lid. Rhomboids spook easily and are notorious for bouncing off lids, having a mesh one will lessen the chance of injury.

All flahser wrasses (Paracheilinus.) and fairy wrasses (Cirrhilabrus sp.) DO NOT sleep in sand. Those are majority of fancy wrasses you will see, so you can forget about the general notion of "wrasse need sand". The common seen wrasses that sleep in sand are leopard wrasses and Halichoeres sp. (like yellow wrasse). But there are fewer species of them in the trade than flashers and fairies, so you're more likely to see a wrasse that don't need sand than one that need.

I use a 20l for qt and have a Mech lid over the top.
