Should I try creating a bed for my purple firefish?

Hello, I brought home 2 purple firefish (99% sure they are a male and a female using the method described here https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/sexing-and-pairing-dart-firefish.814107/). They dont seem shy at all. They stay chill swimming even my face is close up to the glass and even flash with a headlight. They have been exploring the tank and eating pretty well, but they couldn’t seem to find a hiding spot. Not that they are being threatened and needing one but they are sleeping directly on the sand bed at night ….. which just feels sad. Its a 20 gal and i think theres a few good spots in between the rocks but idk if my lawnmower blenny patrolling on the rock makes them feel unsafe to stay in the rock.

Should I try digging a burrow under a rock for them or put a tube in? Or are they capable of digging themselves if needed and they are fine sleeping on the sand?

I'd they're happy I'd leave them be. My Cardinals stay out most of the night as well.

As long as there's caves/hidey holes for when they feel scared or stressed, that would be the most important consideration.

Maybe post a picture of the tank? Curious to see the rockwork.

If anything I would add a few small rocks in a pile so they can camp inside. They don't really burrow in the sand IME but they do like tight caves

I may be mistaken but don't fire fish like to hide in the rocks and ussually have a favorite hole (dart hole) that they can dart in and out of as needed?
Yes
