Ricky's 120 Gallon Mixed Reef

Yes, this one does encrust. In the background of the picture you can see what looked like a long stick, it was a type of tube worm that the Monti encrusted over. I really like how it encrusts and plates.

I have been dosing ZEObak, ZEOfood7 and ZEO Amino Acid's. I have noticed a lot of sponge growth since I started ZEO. This is good because it is a natural filtration method.

I am away at college (UNC at Chapel Hill) so my sister has been taking care of my tank while I'm gone. So far she has done a great job! My Dad lost his job last week so these are the last 12 megapixel photos you will be seeing of my tank. My Dad took these photos a few days ago. The coloration of the corals is much better than when I was there and the Purple Tang is healing up!

Yeah man I'm right there with you. My pops has been out of work for a while too....it's tough to find any kind of work much less management work or anything for prople with experience. Your tank is beautiful!!!!

do you think i could get away with a similiar light setup on a 125 i realy dont want to have to spend another 300 on a matching pendent lol yeah its in a canopy that im going to be but yeah that 300 could go for allot better things lol

Ricky-

As as beginner in the camera scene, what camera and setting did you use? Your pics are absolutely great. I just got a Nikon D40 and I'm trying to learn how to use it. I now realize that I need a macro lens.

Thanx

currently its nothing but PC 2 actinic 2- 10k daylights ( all in need of new bulbs ) but im getting a 125 on sunday and i already have 2 250wat 20k metal halide pendents the i plan on building a suspended canapoy for and i want to add 2 t5ho as well i just realy dont want to spend another 300 on a matching pendent if i can get away with 2 halide and 2 t5's. it would just be under 5 wpgi know that doesnt matter realy with t5's but its mainly MH and i plan on it being a mixed reef very similar to yours

Harry, my settings vary from picture to picture but I always keep my ISO at 1600 and take all my shots manually. I use the Canon 5D. Most of my shot are with the Canon EF 24-70mm lens. I only use the fixed Canon Ef 100mm lens for close ups.

Garth, You could always put the two MH's on the ends of the tank and put the T-5's in the center for more light sensitive corals.
