ritter6788's 75 gallon sps

Niiice mushroom....I can understand your attraction, super beautiful. Hope in time it brings you many babies

Thanks! Looks like a discosoma and I do well with most of those. Yumas I can't keep at all and rics/rhodactis are iffy.

Loving the tank! How have your corals adjusted to the led's?

Thank you! So far everything looks good. I'm having a green algae outbreak and some of my montis look rough again but I've always had those problems. I can see my sps tips growing so I think the lights are doing their job. I'm still running them 100% so I'm monitoring for bleaching.

Gabe, your tank looks fantastic. Love the shroom!!! :)

Nice looking tank! Is that the marsaqua 300w? I was looking into those a while back. A buddy of mine runs a business and almost all of his frag tanks are ran off those lights and he gets great growth.

Crazy shroom Gabe! I like it.

Thanks! That shroom is looking even better in my tank. It's expanded and the stripes are bright blue.

It's a Marsaqua but I got 2 160w. I'm liking them so far. I'm considering turning them sideways and adding 2 more.

The tank looks GREAT, Gabe!

Your tank is absolutely gorgeous, I am just about to start a 75 gal reef tank at the end of next week! any tips for start up? what did/did not work for you in the beginning?

Thanks!

Thanks! Just take it slow. Quarantine every fish and dip/QT EVERY coral you get. Makes life a lot easier down the road. If I could do it again Id set up my frag tank and my qt before even starting my build.

I haven't changed lights in 4 years. Got these in today and removed the optics. Ready to mount in the canopy. I'm going to give these a try. If I don't like them I'm going back to MH.

10,000 lux brighter than my old leds with the optics removed. 20,000 lux brighter with optics.

What made you decide to remove the optics? More spread?

I've been dealing with LEDs for a few years now. Everything from 40 degree optics to none. IMO lot of people's issues with LEDs come from optics and running them too high. With no optics I can turn the power up. I've had LEDs with optics and removed them with improved results so I decided to do it on these before even testing them much.

Ok thank you! Looking forward to watching your tank grow over time!!

Thanks! Good luck with yours.

Anyone ever come home to find Jason Fox corals floating around in bags in their tank?

I can officially say I have! Lol.

Heck yea!! You got the goods! The J.Deere Lepto is one of my favorites.

Very nice! Sounds like you are a lucky man! I'm more likely to come home to something missing out of my tank! LOL.
