This morning the mouth was open and so far there has been no inflation/deflation cycle so far. I’ll do a full water change today to see if the mouth closes up.

Today the mouth is closed nicely and haven’t begun and cipro treatment yet. I’ll do a water change tonight to help the skimmer remove material.

No changes today with the new ritteri. I didn’t do a WC yesterday due to me turning off my heater by accident in my saltwater mixing tank. Will keep the nem under observation this weekend then will begin to introduce DT water to the hospital tank to see if there are any reactions. (Update 1/17/23 on pg 5 post #97…treatment was needed after all!)

@ramona in the QT tank, color is 30 and intensity is 80 on a Kessil A160we. In the display tank the color is around 30 and intensity is at 100 on a kessil A360 and is supplemented with T5 lights for 5 hours. These nems need as much light as possible!

No Cipro treatment yet. Ritteri looking good still with no inflation/deflation cycles. Did 50%WC with DT water and no reactions occurred. I also stopped by my vet to get cipro but haven’t heard back to when to pick up the medications. Here is day a pic of day 7 of observation with no cipro.

Looking good and will great on that shelf you prepared for it. I am going to use your idea of 50% water changes with DT water for about a week and then 100% water changes with DT water for my Mag once I stop Cipro.

Day 8 (seems longer though…) of observation and still no deflation/inflation cycles or gaping mouth.I also fed it a small (dime size) piece of uncooked shrimp today and it accepted it quickly. I’ll be monitoring it to make sure it doesn’t spit out the piece.

Tomorrow will be another DT water WC and another three days of observation (12 days total of observation and no cipro). If all goes well I’ll be moving it to the DT via a slow drip acclimation. I’m feeling more confident everyday that the move will go well and hopefully it continues to be healthy so we can add another page (or side note) on keeping these amazing nems!

Day 10- nem continues to look great. I will move it to the display tank tomorrow morning at the start of the light cycle to minimize wondering.

This morning I woke up around 7 to get the transfer to the DT going. I have the lighting schedule on the hospital tank the same as the display to help the acclimation process, the light intensity is 10% less than display, and flow comparable to what’s in the tank. I find that this helps the acclimation period in the tank and minimizes nems from moving around looking for more light. Once I verified salinity and temperature were comparable I began a 30 min heavy drip acclimation. I typically stop acclimating once the bucket is 50% DT water.

I removed the ritteri completely out of the bucket and placed it on the shelf rock under the lights. The shelf rock is complete isolated which I’ve found helps prevent the ritteri from wondering. All gyres are well covered with DIY nem protectors made from regular window screen material cut-to-size and superglued together. I’ll keep monitoring it over the next few days to observe any movement or reactions to being in the DT.

Holy cow, that thing is massive! It's amazing that you didn't need Cipro. I'm wanting more and more to try one of these out, maybe I'll get the chance some day. I've even got a perfect spot! When I clear out some sand space, I want to dedicate a lot of real-estate to a couple different nems.
