ro membrane housing leaking

replaced the membrane on my ro/di unit and now the housing is leaking. So I swapped out housings and the other is leaking. The only thing i can think of is the o ring gasket is bad sine i used the same one on both.

I tried teflon tape, Vaseline and still leaking

Could there be a issue with there being to much pressure now?

Im just trying to get it working so i can sell it, as I have to sell off my s/w stuff since my wife was laid off

Have you successfully replaced a membrane before or is this your first?

You really have to push sometimes to fully seat them. And make sure you're putting the membrane in the correct direction – there could be exceptions, but usually the big seal is closer to the opening of the membrane housing.

first time for me and I will try that. I do have it in correctly as I made sure of that lol

Make sure it is pushed in all the way, they go in further than you think. Check that the O-rings are clean and use just a light coating of food grade silicone grease or Vaseline.
Are you sure you have the correct membrane for whatever system you have? The most common Dow membranes are 1810 or 1812 series and they are not interchangeable. 1812 is what most vendors use but some like Whirlpool, some Sears and Watts use 1810 series membranes.

I was missing a oring, found it laying on the floor. Put it on and I'm good to go.

In general, best NOT to use Vaseline. It's a petroleum product and can degrade some orings. Stick to the food-grade silicone grease.

Also - you'll want to get rid of that teflon tape on the membrane houing threads - wrong application for teflon tape... The seal occurs at the oring(s), not at the threads.

Old thread, but to clarify.... Teflon does not make tape. And correct, plumber's thread seal tape is not for plastic threads.
