RODI system questions

hello everyone

Got a question about my 5 stage BRS RODI system.

Recently I got the drinking water attachment for my sink to take advantage of the reverse osmosis drinking water. Currently have it connected before my di unit with a check valve to not allow di water to get into my drinking tank.

I love the fact that the pressure tank pushed di water out faster since when I turn on my di for tank water the pressure tank pushed stored RO water through my di.

Question I have is

Could I add a second pressure tank to the system to store more RO water?

Space is limited so sitting large amounts of di water is not an option. Wanting to add second tank to get more di water faster.

Currently the water coming out of my storage tank going into my di unit is 4tds. And 0tds coming out of the di unit.

When I got mine, the instructions had me plumb the check valve to prevent water from coming back from the pressure tank.

Spoke with BRS today. They said doing multiple pressure tanks is a good idea that way you can store more water and get DI water quicker. Also recommended doing multiple large storage tanks if you have the room.

I'll respectfully disagree. In fact, in a properly configured RODI system with a pressure tank, water from the pressure tank is never allowed to reach the DI stage. Happy to provide more detail if interested.

This configuration is faulty. Recommend you don't plumb it this way.

Please do. According to BRS they claim it is perfectly fine to do this.

In short, the TDS of RO water from a full pressure tank is significantly higher than the TDS of RO water straight out of the membrane. The name of the game in this hobby is low TDS RO water to maximize the lifespan of the DI.

You can configure an RODI with a pressure tank - see for instance our Reef/Residential RODI. RO water from the pressure tank never goes to the DI.

So I just did two water changes on both of my tanks. Ten gallons each. With to speed from my pressure tank going to my di unit. The TDS going into the di was 7. The TDS coming out of my unit to my tank was 0. Is there something I should be concerned about?

You just ran some RO water that was not as clean as it could be through your DI - so you used up some of your DI resin capacity needlessly.
