rolands damselfish and talbots damselfish

Are either of these peaceful? I know "peaceful" and damselfish aren't often associated but I was told Chrysiptera are the best choices for temperament. I have kept an azure for almost a year that has been a model citizen and I want more of them with the same mannerism. My lfs just got in a rolands and a talbots and I'm thinking about getting them since they are also Chrysiptera. I want something that will be peaceful when added and stay peaceful and not just become a dick after a couple years of being in my tank. Can anyone share their experiences

Both of these species are peaceful however as the Talbot's age they can get rather ugly so I'd personally stick to the Rolland's and azures. it's also best to get them in groups so it disperses aggression.

I agree with this. I have 3 talbots that are over 4 years old now in my 180 and the bickering stays among them. No issues with anything else, but they will give slight chase to each other from time to time.

Springeri damsels are supposed to be peaceful too.

Also, with the Rolland’s, make sure you get the ones from Vanuatu with the golden caps. The ones from other places are pretty drab and not worth considering. And agree, the Azure has the best colors IMO among the commonly seen damsels, more so than either of these two varieties.

I was going to get a Roland’s but I keep passing as I couldn’t remember what was more drab. The one in my LFS has the golden cap so I may grab it if I don’t want to replace my old pink streak. Any ideas on how aggressive these are?

Rollands are the more peaceful of the two IMO. Should do fine with the azure as they tend to act a little differently. Rollands like to be mid-low and are more cryptic than most damsels.

I don’t think they’re too bad, as their closest relative is the Talbot’s. I’d say go for it. :) What happened to your Pink Streak Wrasse?

It was behaving totally normal then yesterday he wasn’t out early (Which was highly unusual) I shrugged it off thinking he was just having a break then a few hours passed and I hadn’t seen him so I looked everywhere then down the back in my crabs mouth was a dead fish - Still didn’t know which one it was because my mind blanked thinking it was a gorilla crab, after a closer look I saw it was a fish being eaten. Then the blue in the anal, pelvic and dorsal fins have it away, my pink streak decided to flat out die after being happy and thriving for 394 days.

Any ideas how well the Roland’s would do with 7 other fish in a 20g Max Nano? Here’s the stock currently:
Griessinger goby
Hectors goby
Yasha goby
Acicularis clown goby
Naoko fairy wrasse (Temp)
Blue star leopard wrasse (Temp)
Linear Blenny (We’ll see how much longer he stays…)

If I replace the linear blenny it’ll be with either a Meiacanthus smithii or Escenius bifasciatus.

My Talbots are jerks. They are big now and runs the tank.
