Hello all ive posted alot here in the last few months and suddenly i stopped theres a good reason for it. I experienced a catastrophic failure due to my girl neglecting my tank (while i was away on military duties )

First and foremost i love her so i did not murder her even tho i was extremely angry

Heres what i did to recover. I quickly setup a 20 gallon quanteen and tempoary home i saved most of the water and added it to the 20 gallon and did a small 3 gallon water change
I used a simple hang on the back filter and added a piece of rock from my dt to the quarenteen to make it more like home
I quickly got all alive livestock to the quarenteen 3 out if 3 fish lived. All snails hermits and cuc survived
Unfortunately most my zoa garden melted. Leaving me with one barely alive polyp colony tiny guys
All anemones survived and xenia
Mushrooms died and so did a couple green buttons

Anyways the tank was quickly resurrected from the dead a HUGE water change and immediate cleaning of all live rock and all tank equipment occured

Your gonna call me crazy i did leave a tiny bit of algae

Anyways it was clean. I then started the cycle all over again.
Starting numbers. Ammonia 44 (not exact ), nitrates 10, nitrates 25, ph 7.1, salinty 1.031

After cleaning and 3 weeks of cycling. (Thanks to some raw shrimp ) finnishing ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 5 ph 8.4 salinity 1.024
After much thought i added livestock back to the tank redecorated a bit. And now im back to square one an empty tank with no corals.
After 2 weeks. Everything is fine all corals healthy and after the aftermath one random green button sprouted what seems to be out of no where. Will post pics soon.
Im still a rookie but with a little more knowlege.

glad to read your restart seems to be going well. I'm also glad you didn't kill your GF - you may not have been able to restart under that scenario :)

Sorry to hear that...
Is it your girlfriend? She may not be a keeper if she neglected something that meant that much to you...
Glad to hear it's recovering.
