Hi everyone,

If you have read my welcome thread almost one year ago you will know i had lots of things going on.
Now my baby girl (Noora) is born, she is almost 6 months old. The redecorating and renovating the house is almost done. So i can finally start a build thread.

This is the plan, buy a reefer 170. I really like the look of this tank.
Customize the plumbing so i can fit my skimz sump in the cabinet.
I will also have to change the hinges because otherwise the sump won't fit. It is going to be really tight.

The equipment i have got so far:

Red dragon 2.5 return pump
Bubble king double cone 130
Vortech mp10
Skimz sumpro up21

Next step is buying the tank and light.
I love the new radion xr30 g4 pro. Is this overkill? Should i just buy the reefer deluxe and settle with the hydra 26hd. I also like the giesemann vervve but the tank mount is really bulky, i mean really really bulky!

I made a sketch of how i would like to setup my tank.

Also added some pictures of my equipment...

Kind regards,

Rory IMG_2375.JPG

Really like the sump. Have the same tank, I have an xr15pro on the 170 and I really think it looks good. I also run one mp10 I am thinking about adding another one. Will be adding an apex dos this weekend to help with a few things.

Thanks everybody! Really excited to finally start my tank :).

Fitting the sump will be a challenge, i have got 3mm spare front to back and 27mm spare side to side.
Changing the hinges will necessary. But hey, it's worth it.

I was hoping one mp10 would be sufficient. Do you really need a second mp10?
Prices in EUROPE for a radion xr30 g4 pro are quite high. 899 euro, this is about 1024 dollar ;Wideyed.
Mp10wqd 309 euro so about 344 dollar.

I could go crazy and hang a Philips Coralcare over the reefer? It is way cheaper here in Belgium than a radion.
I just don't like te look of the fixture, it's bulky.

Thx man! I follow you on YouTube. Great vids man! Super nice tank.

So, i've found a great place where i can buy reinforced medical grade silicone tubing. Thinking about cutting the red sea pipes off and adding some hose barb fittings so my tank is semi soft plumbed. Thus way i can fit my sump much easier. What do you guys and girls think? Good idea or not?

It's a shop in a town near where i live (belgium mate). I'm a sales representative for paccar parts and i sometimes visit this shop. They have all kinds of tubing. I added a picture with the specifications of the tube. If you want i'll translate it for you ;)

Hey I can translate that too...or most of it! Like the heading...a weaponized silicone snake!

PS I note it is used in food preparation which off hand says to me it should be fine.

Hehe indeed weaponized silicone snake :D, love the translation!

It ain't cheap though. The good thing is i can buy it in almost any size i want. From 3 to 50 mm. Minimum purchase is 1 meter. It's also nicely colored. The red tubing matches the skimmer and sump :).

Yep you are correct! It's flemish. Have you been in Belgium mate?

No I have not, closest I got was Holland. But I am originally from South Africa and my home language is Dutch/Flemish based with a sprinkling of a number of other influences.
