Considering adding one of these two to my tank. Which would you consider more peaceful?

Odds are the royal gramma but individual temperment varies. I knew of a royal gramma in a friends 150 that would hunt down any hand that was placed in it's tank and attack it and it definitely gave the damsels a run for their money.

I had a dottyback once. He was such a bully.

DON'T get a dotty back....if i could get mine out i would, for such a little fish so much anger and aggression..
do your self a favour and stay clear of them..

But this is an orchid dottyback. They are different than all their cousins.

Still, the gramma may be a better choice. Just don't lump the orchids in with the royal or strawberry.

as long as you have a cave/hole for the royal gramma to hide in, i'd go that route
