It's finally time.
I've only ever done small nano tanks and I've always loved the idea of having tangs and angels. So I thought it's about time I enter the big leagues (at least big for me). The Red Sea Reefer 525 had the perfect dimensions for the spot I planned to place it, and I recently fell in love with rollermats, so it's a no-brainer.
For this build, I decided to get some higher end equipment:
2x Ecotech XR15 G6
2X Ecotech MP40
Ecotech Battery Backup
Aquatop 500w Titanium Heater
Simplicity 1000 DC Return Pump
Red Sea ReefMat 500
Red Sea RSK 300
Red Sea ReefATO+
Taking delivery of the tank
Plumbing and equipment installation
This took an entire day to set up. I had trouble removing the glass baffle between the filter sock holder and overflow pipes and thought I'd have to cut silicone, but it just took a little bit more oomph to pull it out than I had expected. I then spent another hour leveling the whole tank using a digital level tool to get all sides to be 0.0°.
My fish will experience true level.
Installation complete, aquascaping complete, time for water! This will take a while...
Radions installed with the rail mount. I absolutely love the built-in cable management! It makes the display look so clean. One of my goals for this build is to have a completely clean, unobstructed view of the tank, with no cords seen above or in the display, which is also why the MP40s were my only option. I could add more aquascape and make it a bit taller, but I want my future tangs to have as much open swimming space as possible.
Tank is finally filled (hooray for no leaks!), salt is mixed, almost all equipment installed but waiting for 1 more MP40. Bottle bacteria in, time for the cycle!
Will continue to update as I progress.
