Good morning all,

My 125 gallon tank has been established for two years and my home's hardwood flooring is starting to show wear and tear after five years. The flooring is in need of resurfacing or possibly replacing altogether as we have a pool in our back yard.

During the summer and winter months, water is dripped on the floor by the doors, same with snow during winter.

Ultimately, due to the size, Ive considered draining the tank halfway to reduce the weight, moving the tank to our living room temporarily, refill, redo the floor, and move it back in place carefully to not damage floors. If it would be possible.

I've considered finishing our basement completely, upgrading to a 750XXL, transferring the existing stuff to the basement and the flooring dilemma would be much easier to work around.

What are your thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Honestly I would upgrade. The is the tank they sold at Petco during Black Friday a couple years ago. It is not drilled or designed to be a reef tank. Sure you can do it, but that's like going from driving a pinto to driving a porsche. A sump makes life much easier and if you are currently useing a cannister filter getting rid of that will either improve your water quality or save you a bunch of time.

Preaching to the choir right now. Currently I go in biweekly to clean the media and detritus which isn't terrible thanks to my cannister filter. We started with this tank as an entry level into then saltwater hobby and have learned alot since then.
