I read a thread on red mandarin dragonets and I see that they are less prone to ich but can't take copper treatment in qt because they are scale less, does these gfo for ruby red dragonets as well. I am planning on getting one but before I do I want to make sure.

I have 2 red dragonets and I basically observed each of them for a week in qt because they weren't eating frozen foods. Only treated with Prazipro. But go figure...once they got in my display...they learned to eat frozen foods.

I'll let someone else chime in on the copper...but another thing to consider is if they aren't eating frozen foods. Some are picky eaters and if they only will munch on live pods...then you'll have a hard time keeping them fed while in QT for proper copper treatment.

I can't say I've had personal experience with treating dragonets, but I bet the larger community here on R2R has a ton of valuable experiences they could share with you. :)

I'll ask @mdbannister or @revhtree to shift this thread over to the main R2R forums where your question will get a lot more exposure!

It does go for the Ruby Red's, also. They are less prone to showing symptoms of Ich but they are still likely carriers. The best recommendation is to get a prescription for Cloroquine Phosphate and use that as a treatment.

+1 I agree that chloroquine is the best option for all Mandarin's.

I also echo these sentiments! :)

After almost two weeks and calling various places I could not get a prescription for Cloroquine Phosphate.

So I ended up doing humblefish's TTM.
I am super ich phobic so I ended up doing two rounds of the TTM before I put it in my DT.

3 months later everything seems to be going well in my DT. The Mandarin is growing and getting fat from my copepod population
