I'd never measured before, but am trying some gonis. As far as the test is concerned, I'm over 1500.Mine seems to work well for the times I use it. Magnesium is notoriously difficult to test accurately, and some don't bother testing for it at all. Here's a link from RHF on magnesium testing:

Gonis and success with high mag is a myth, imo.I'd never measured before, but am trying some gonis. As far as the test is concerned, I'm over 1500.
Im using afr and seachem traceAre you dosing anything that may be rising it? Check out the link I posted above, it's got some good info on why it's not easy to measure Mag, and how to dose it based on Calc consumption.

The tank is just 2 months old. I'm using redsea reef mix. I've been changing 20% each week.Is it just me? Or is the salifert magnesium test dumb. It never changed color.
Can you describe the tank in terms of age, salt mix, water changes, and whether you’ve added mag besides the AFR?
