Salt Water Mixing Stations Let's See Them!!

Here is my set up. Could clean up the lines but it works for now.

Here is an updated picture of mine that shows the DIY BoB (run via cat5) and RO lines. Both run outside between the mixing station and the DT on the other side of the house using underground conduit with various pull boxes along the way. Have spare network lines pulled so I can eventually install a EB8 out in the garage. And automate the RO production as well.

Side note, the Grey Beard pumps are awesome! Pulling water over 100 ft, through the RO lines (mostly horizontal runs) at a constant rate of 500 ml/min!

Also included a shot of the QT system I have (since I referenced it), but again, it's taken down for the moment...

Sweet. I just looked into some plastic tanks, two Ace Roto Mold VT0040-18's. Eight week lead time and it would cost more to ship them than the two of them would cost! Crazy. Where does one find tanks like this?

Not sure if you ever found a tank or not, but I ordered a 55gal tank from USPlastic and they drop ship those at a pretty decent rate, like 30 or 40 bucks. Thats the largest I could get before paying the 150-200 in shipping costs.
 
Nice Setups! How often is everyone changing their cartridges? Do you wait til the tds meter reads high or are you changing them out every so often? My Di media gets spent about every couple of months, but was thinking about just changing the Di media another time before I change out all the cartridges, or should I just change out everything at once? How is everyone else doing it?
 
Auto fill with the flip of a switch. Shuts off at exactly 25 gallons using an optic sensor to see level. I then add required salt for 25 gallons. I also have a pump that comes on every 3 hours to agitate the salt. This is also on an auto water change system using dosing pumps.

In my opinion this should be as robust as possible to give you options. My system has 2 different configurations....

A) A Renew continuous water changing system
B) The ability to mix 55 gallons and bring it on-line after draining 55 gallons of existing tank water
C) The ability to draw buckets of RO/DI water or Saltwater


You run the system in either configuration (but not both) but the beauty is you never have to touch a bucket. In addition, my sink has it's own RO/DI spiget on the sink for cleaning the test vials. We are not up and running with this sytem yet. However, I designed the system to be as automated or as manual as I need. I plan on running it 99% of the time using the Renew water changing system.

Ok I want this setup at my house. Where do I get the plans.
 
Here's mine!

This is my RO/DI setup in the laundry room. It's a 6 stage BRS system that does 150 GPD. There's a Aquatec permeate and booster pump that helps not to put as much water down the drain. The Litermeter 3 is used for topping off the display tank and dosing kalk. Our Apex controller is nicely hidden in here behind the tank. The cords and tubing are fed through the wall to keep things out of sight.

I Have some bulkheads put into a blank electrical plate going from the laundry room to the garage where the mixing tanks are. The outgoing tubes are on the left, and the incoming ones are on the right.

These ore our mixing tanks. The one in the back is where the RO/DI comes in and is stored for adding to the mixing and topping off the display. In the front is the saltwater mixing tank that we use for our continuous water change.

The white containers are used for dosing. The one on the left just stores the kalk and the other draws the mixed calcium solution to dose the tank. The black container is a separate reservoir for our HOB skimmer. It's not hooked up yet, but it will be great for when we go on vacation!

We have an extra Energy Bar here so we can have probes monitoring the salinity and temp. of the water. The Avast modules are pressure switches to tell the apex when to start and stop the mixing.

This is inside the RO/DI tank. the water comes in through the float switch and goes out for topping off through the blue tube next to it. The pump on the bottom transfers water to the other tank next to it.

The Saltwater tank has an input on the top right, and an output on the bottom right through the white tube. There are salinity and temp. probes on the right and also a powerhead and heater below.

I would like to know where does every one has the draining line from the ro/dI going to??? Is it recycle???
 
Here's mine right after I set it up. Not as nice as a lot of yours but it's the best I could do at the time. I have changed out the brass ball valve for pvc, mounted my DI cartridges, and cleaned up the lines since this these pictures were taken

Since the top container is around head height, I added a sight glass with markings at every 5 gallons to let me know the volume of my RO/DI storage. So I never have to take off the lid and chance knocking impurities into my DI water. The bottom container is on casters and I fill it with the amount of water I need to do a WC, add salt, plug in the heater and powerhead that stays inside the mobile container, and let it circulate for 24 hrs, then I roll it to my DT and pump in NSW once I have drained the old water

Mine runs along the baseboard of my garage wall then outside to my wife's flower bed just outside the garage.

All of my drain lines (DT drain during water change when not going to QT, RODI waste, QT emergency and empty drains, Brute Containers emergency drains) run to irrigation pipes that run to the front yard to keep my lawn green during the California droit or the sewer if it's salt water.
 
I'd worry about laundry fumes before temperatures. RODI water will absorb about anything.

I quit aerating my RODI water (which wasn't really necessary anyway) for this reason.

I recently thought about this issue, but I have aerated my water for years and the pump and barrels are in the garage next to my natural gas hot water heater. Garage is by no means a clean room and my TDS is always 0 in the RODI barrel so I shrugged the concern off.

Hope it doesn't come to bite me down the road...
