What is a "sand falls"?
In an aquarium you set up a system where a small pump circulates sand filled water up to the top of a structure where it gets dropped back down to the collection area. It's really an impressive thing that I've only seen in fresh water tanks. It looks just like a waterfall in your aquarium.
This is a picture of one but you should really do a search for "underwater waterfall" on youtube and watch the video's. Nothing short of amazing.

I think biggest problem with doing it in salt water is that they really need low flow systems to work or the sand just gets blown around.

Oh My ... Love this!!!!

I am absolutely amazed right now! That is incredible!!!! I want one!

Unfortunately I highly doubt you will ever see something like that in a reef tank because the flow would be to great.

These systems really are amazing. But they take a crazy amount of work to keep looking this way.

well if you seen have the design I have going into my tanks. this will fit in I just wanted to make sure that the extra air that is used bu the stone won't harm the fish. it will be in a area where no fishes can go more along the 3d back ground.. might do it in a plexi channel so it looks like a river.. lol

If you can block the surrounding flow I don't know why it wouldn't work. You will also need a denser sand to make up for the added buoyancy of salt water.

+1 ... I want one too!
Not that I need it ... Want it though!

I've seen your thread, you have some great fabricating skills!

THank you Very much I doubt my tank will be finished by Feb. due to all the repair that had to be done to the office. A simple fan installed turned into a night mare with water leaks found and mold on the joists . plus the orginal wiring was not up to code. SO much fun. Just wish i had a shop still to knock stuff out with.

More important to be done right then done quickly. As with so many things in life... if you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you find the time to do it again?
