And I have him a quote for 14 from a website, he beat it

I worry for my zoas and blastos. I actually had great success a while back with an aiptasia eating file fish, but he decimated my zoa colonies and chewed on some other softies. So I’m hesitant with fish these days

Copperband butterfly is pretty safe as evidence by how many have them in their reef tanks, just hard to get a healthy specimen.

I feel like those little filefish always turn :)

@Formulator

You gotta try peppermint shrimp from Reeftopia. I added 6 to my 260 gallon and they wiped out everything in a week. I HIGHLY recommend.

How / where did you add them? Do you have a large wrasse ?
Have you tried a scat? It’s a brackish water fish. I acclimated a couple of them to saltwater and turned them loose in my tank. All of my Aphasia was devoured within 2 weeks never to be seen again

Yeah salty underground definitely has issues with aiptasia so I’m sure they have a lot of Berghia lol. If you’re looking to get rid of it I could trade you some coral. I’m local to St. Louis too

Thanks, I might be in touch. We are expecting a baby soon, so might hold off a couple weeks…

Copperband Butterfly? Mine took a little while to start eating Aiptasia, now I can’t remember the last time I saw one…

Congratulations!! That’s so exciting!

Fish or shrimp won't get into the center of the colony.

Berghia is really the only option unless you do frag it. Sucks to watch colonies go downhill.

I add the nudies when lights go out and let them crawl out of the container on there own. They typically stay together. Place it at the base of the colony if you can.
My blue star never touched them. Last time I added them, it took about 6 months.

Everyone's mileage may very. When did you add them last?

IMO, I would do at least 10.

When you put the 6 in they should be grouped together. Within a 3-4” area. And lights off. If they are too far apart, they won’t find each other to start munching on aiptasia tighter. So place close together and near aiptasia. And in your case, the inner depths of that colony to protect them in the first week or two
You impress the hell outta me. So knowledgeable and willing to share said knowledge is a real treat. Thank you!

You’re welcome.

Another pro tip
Aiptasia can EAT baby and even medium Nudibranch if they land in the mouth or get in the tentacles. So always place directly on rockwork near aiptasia but not touching it. A few inches away is fine. They will find their way and eat from the base / stalk upwards. They know what to do. Have the water flow off so they have a few moments to get a good footing on the rocks. Kinda like a snail does.

Get an Australian Stripey. That will clear out your problem quick. Make sure to buy a little one.
