Here's my tank. I run a t5 mh fixture over 72" of it and on the far left I've been experimenting with led. Also, I've been running led on my frag tank that's plumbed in to the same system. I have noticed better color with about the same growth on the led side. This, along with increasing cost and availability of bulbs decreasing in the future, has made me come to the decision to go led. That being said I will also supplement with 4 retrofit t5 bulbs to help with the undergrowth of colonies.
What are the physical dimensions of the 32" wifi light? I have 94"x22" of space inside my canopy, so I'm just checking to see what will fit.

I see no criticism here. What I do see is a person who's well educated in the world of LED's used for marine aquariums. Which is what I've personally been looking for.
You may as well thank all the Black Box vendors out here beside SB, because their all getting their units from pretty much the same place. Diodes and all!
Do a search and read up on other black box vendors threads. They all have so much in common.

Zane, that post by Eagle actually has a lot of merit. Many folks on the internet forums are google smart with no practical experience. There are so many different opinions, even with in academia, as to the true needs of of corals. Quoting one or even 10 papers, just leads to 10 more quotes of conflicting papers. For example can most light guys explain the difference in density between Chlorophyll C and the cartenoid Peridinin in most corals? If they could you would see more fixtures with cool blues in the cyan range. Or if you talk about high PAR they mention photo inhibition. Yet I have a PC Rainbow growing like a weed in 850+ PAR. Not to mention PUR is the better picture is a light's effectiveness. I can build a high PAR light with only green leds for example. Few do true controlled tests. For example my personal experience is I have reached photo inhibition quicker in an ULN system than a high nutrient / high ALK system. However does that make it a fact? There could be other variables like food, flow, water quality and chemistry, not to mention species of coral at play as well.

When someone gives you advice, take a look at their personal results. Do your own research, then make a decision that is best for you, your corals, and budget. Not everyone cares about that last mm of growth. Some do, even at the cost of color, preferring to color up after growth. Some color is #1. Others want a blend of both. Aesthetics is another area that is highly debated, the need for more warm white, red, green etc. Features like timers, ramping, wifi can also play a part. Or the ability to fine tune each color. The reason there are so many lights out there is there are so many different opinions, and no one as of yet has found the silver bullet.

My tank is a 55 gal bow front and one ai hydra 52 about 10 inches over the water

Started off with all lights around 30 and UV at 10 over about 8 months I have moved up a little at a time an I'm now at
Most lights 55-65 and UV 35

Just made the switch last night to the new tank 48x24x24 to big for one hydra and I didn't want to to spend $600 to cover the other half of my tank

Switching to sb reef light 32" wifi. already ordered it if the corals like it I'll keep it if not I'll order another ai hydra 52 but I have faith [emoji12]

I am starting to regret it. :) He's super cool, but at almost 36" he can move some rock. As long as he takes the fiddlers from your hand or the grabber stick it's fine. BUt if you drop a fiddler and it goes in the rocks, he starts hunting. I have most of my rock glued down now. My PC rainbow took a tumble breaking off a couple months of growth. Frags!

This may very well be true, however in my case I got better color and growth after switching from MH to LEDs. Point is in this hobby you show me 100 different systems and I'll show you 93 different ways thing are being done.

What's your beef with this guy really? He's not claiming to have a better product than say an Ecotech, Maxsect, AI etc... Do you really claim this big of an issue because he says his lights are a little better then the ones you can get off eBay? Really?? Just the mere fact that he's thrown down the money to sponsor this website that needs support MAKES HIS BETTER THAN THE ONES YOU CAN GET ON EBAY!!!

So what's the real issue? A hug?

That's awesome! But go back a read it again though. His tone isn't "a guy just trying to help him out"

Another thing I don't see the other Chinese eBay black boxes that are exactly the same but aren't really exactly the same doing.
