Apparently Shane's survival of the fittest approach to coral intake is creating some resilient coral. SBB coral are borderline impervious to deadly tin levels and the subsequent swings to fix them.

Only lost a couple small pieces that were questionable across 3 decent SBB orders. Mini colony TSA pieces were really the only losses.

So here is the aftermath of monti killing. I knicked a couple frags should have move them like I did the one. Took a lot less than I thought it would. I think I over did it. It think everything will come back. Still have a little at the bottom but that's ok

Any tips/tricks to moving an established aquarium?

There’s a 180 gal acrylic tank in the classifieds for a heck of a deal (livestock included). It’s only an hour away from me and I’m really contemplating picking it up…
Well Im picking it up Friday. Guess that means more room for SBB corals :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Help thr man out with some pointers folks. 180 breakdown and move with livestock
Thanks Billy. Current plan is:

Pump tank water into 275 tote
I also have a 55 gal drum I can put some live rock in if needed.
Totes with heated water for fish. Or I may bag them up since it’s only a 1 hour drive and then transfer to another tank when I get home
Totes for live rock

Tank will go on several blankets in the back of my truck. Water tote, drum, and tank stand will be on a trailer.

Fish and tank equipment goes inside the truck.

Once I get everything set back up, I will transfer current corals from 40 gal into the 180.

Oh and I’m planning to sell one of the sail fin tangs, the CBB, damsels, and clowns.

I have a CBB, frog fish angler, filefish, 2 box fish, 2 glacier freeze clowns, clown tang, and fairy wrasse that will go into the 180 from my
75 gal FOWLR.

One other question - for those with acrylic tanks - bare or sand bottom? Was thinking bare so I don’t have to worry about scratches when cleaning

How I would do it. I would just be prepared for a cycle when you get it back up. There's going to be alot of craziness moving it. How long has it been established? Alot of anaerobic bacteria die off.

I like bare bottoms for frag tanks or smaller displays, but not a 180. Mayb3 a small layer of the coarser crushed coral is a happy medium. You can always buff them just have to be mindful when scraping.

It’s been up a year. Moving it will for sure stir up stuff. I do like having sand in my current tanks. Just never had a large acrylic before. An acrylic purposed scraper/cleaner is first order of business once I get it going

I almost had one. Never have though. Hopefully it's already got a few minor scratches so you're not tweaking when the first one happens. It's inevitable. But so is my glass 125. As long as you don't do one of those 100 microscratch moves with sand on the scraper should be fine lol.

@SBB Corals that baby must never sleep! :face-with-tears-of-joy:
If you shake out the rocks well and don't use dirty sand you can avoid a cycle. It's more or less a 100% waterchange if done right.
the good thing is there is minimal sand currently in it. Hoping by reusing most of the old water it will help and then just do some WC’s in the weeks after
