Here are some further updated photos from my tank I finally go around to getting the camera out. Some could be better but I didn't have time to clean the glass.

Ya it is a temp spot for now, I want to find a good rock for it to cover but still be controlled.

Not too much new I got a Six Line from a local reefer and had to remove one of my black/white Chromis since it was picking on the new Six Line, and its little brother. He is now living in the sump. Any takers?

I have also changed the screen cleaning of my scrubber I now do one side every 4 days this way the mature algae has some more time to grow and replenish the side that I clean. Instead of shocking the system with a new screen all together.

My scrubber has also started to mature a good amount it is out of the brown algae stage, and into the green stage now, which is more stable and normal.

I will have to take some pictures of the Six Line, even though he is a little discolored from living in an overflow I think.

Well do I have an update for you guys! I will save the best for last though.

I wanted to see if anyone knew what kind of organism this is coming off my rocks at night. They come out of the rocks and out of the sand, they are a clear stringy material. Not to sure what to call them or to be worried about them, any ideas?

Next is a picture of one of my favorite coral in the tank, it is an orange Zoa frag I got from a local reefer. I was finally able to get some epoxy to stick it to a rock, since my snails kept kicking it off otherwise.

In anticipation of getting this new Sailfin Tang I wanted to redo some rock work, and I wanted to do it anyway. So I captured the Yellow Tang and threw him in the sump this way he wont know the new rock work.

So here is what I came up with, I don't like the top rock much but that was all that I had at the time. I am going to keep my eye out for some base rock and try to get two small flat pieces to make some shelves come off each side of the top rock.

FINALLY, the big news I got a Dark Desjardini Tang, and he sure is a looker! We call him Dino (took the "dini" off the end of Desjardini, and made it manly).

Here is a shot from before I got him, with a much better camera then mine.

I forgot to mention, when I put the tangs back in together they were doing fine and kinda sorting the tank out. However after about 10 min of swimming around the Yellow Tang started to chase the Desjardini away from "its" area. I thought this would happen so I let them try to sort out their territories. However every time the Desjardini tried to swim down into the tank the Yellow would charge him and try to slap him with his tang. He was never successful, but had been doing this for a good 2 hours before I went to bed. It also never seemed to really bother the Desjardini, he would keep eating off the veggie clip and would swim into the power head for a ride.

So I shut down the lights on the tank to see if some darkness would calm them down, and let them bee for the night.

I came down this morning to the tank still patrolling the lower lever and when ever the Desjardini would get lower he would charge, and put him back to the top.

So in the end this morning I took out the Yellow Tang and back to the sump he went. I am hoping that the Desjardini can get some rest and claim some territory of his own while the Yellow is in "time-out".

I plan to re add the Yellow maybe tonight or tomorrow. You know another strange thing is the Yellow is about 2" smaller then the Desjardini.

Any of you guys have some tips to make them get along? Otherwise the Yellow is going to have to go.

Hope all is going well with desjardini and yellow tang. I was cruising and saw the Tank build and must say that I had forgotten about using a kerf to get a curve in a board so when I build my stand I will definitely be using that technique. I left my tangs in together and they finally sorted it out still a little aggression but they sorted it out. Good luck let us know how it is going.

Well it has been a while since my last update and so I thought I would post of some new pictures.

I have been still adding stuff slowly. I added the Desjardini and had to remove the Yellow for a while since they were fighting a lot. During the process of removing the Yellow I hit his eye with the net so he got a good case of Pop Eye, so the trip to the sump ended up lasting longer for him. After he was all healed up I added him back into the tank and the Desjardini was in charge that time he was showing the Yellow who is boss. So as of now there is a good balance they have there own "areas" and if one invades the others the chase is on but there is no damage being done.

I was also able to finally frag some more of my green zoas off the original rock which was covered with some pests. I cut them all off and glued them to a fresh rock and they are all doing well.

You can also see some good coarl growth in the monti's. This was after a water change so the water is a little blurry, and my camera phone is no Nikon.

Enjoy!

Looks like you have a red slime algae problem, how is that ats doing?

The red slime is minimal at most... the ATS is doing well I have to adjust the flow rate and the light output on the lights to get it to be in the right parameters. I also found out that the Chromis I had in the sump had died and was decaying so that probably didn't help my algae.

I have done a simple mod to my scrubber I added 10.5" reflectors.

They fit the screen better just about perfect size... I also noticed that this way they block more of the light from bouncing around in the sump.

I was thinking about added two extra bulbs using a splitter. What do you think?

I still have to add more flow to the system to get my 35 gpm number. Do you think that cutting the slot open some would help relieve some of the pressure that may be holding back the pump from being able to push more water through?

DIY Magnetic Floating Algae/Veggie Feeder

I was sick and tired of having to get my arm wet in order to fetch the algae clip out of my aquarium everyday so I took a tip from another reefer and expanded on it. I used one of old mag floats and super glued two veggie clips to it. This way my Yellow can have one and the Desjardini.

It works great and now I can put the algae where ever I want and keep them guessing/chasing it.

Now the Pictures/Video:

August 18th 2011 Update

Well it has been a while since my last update so I have one for you all in picture format of course.

First off are some shot of all the fish, the Yellow Tang and the Desjardini Tang are getting along well every now and then they get into a chase I also added some critters. The first one was a Spotted Goby however he has been secluded into his rock since my Six Line like to chase him (might have to remove the Six Line). I also added a Blood Shrimp he is one of my favorite critters with his dark red coloring and white spots, however they like to hide so it’s hard to get a picture.

Can you see him?

I also have many shot of my coral which are continuing to grow out. I don’t dose (yet) all I do is a water change every so often I plan to get the BRS small DIY kit. I also added a new coral not sure what kind of Zoa it is but it has a yellow/green polyp with a purple center (see picture). I have also been fragging some stuff when I have the chance, a mini frogspawn and some green Zoas.
