Ok so I'm not exactly a newbie been doing this for about 8 years before I toke a break. I bought the seachem ammonia test kit and it just totally confuses me  it test for free and total ammonia now I have barley found any free ammonia it's usually 0 I did get a reading of .06 this time do I wait for both to be 0 before it finishes cycling? Reading about it the free ammonia is bad total is not  so what in the world do I go by ugh :rolleyes:o_O

I would wait, are you running any carbon? Some carbon would take the ammonia out of the water column.

Both, free and total, should read 0 (yellow) . I tested my established DT with it as a reference when I was having ammonia show up in rodi, both were zero. Free is more toxic, iirc
