Hello & Welcome Jill!

Hey and welcome! I must admit I don't know much about seahorses - Are they difficult to breed? I'd love to see a thread from you here describing the process!
I’m sure Jill can speak to it better, but as someone who kept a few, years back.

They aren’t necessarily hard to breed, you just need some verticality in the tank.

However, depending on the species, they can difficult to rear as frys.

Some like dwarves can be reared along with parents, while regular horses that have benthic fries can be easier, some need those kreisel tanks for planktonic fries and the food they eat you have to culture.

Not too dissimilar to other marine fish.

I guess it can be easier in a sense since they give live birth so it’s easier to scoop up the fries instead of having to separate the eggs when laid.

But on another note, welcome!

If I ever pick up seahorses again, I know where to look!

My name is Jill Martin. I am the owner of Bella’s Seahorse Beauties. Who is interested in aquacultured seahorses?
