Looks like they require TLS/SSL - the PL3 natively cannot send via TLS/SSL.
Would have to go through the GHL server.

Don't have a PL, but you can use "app passwords" for things like this in Gmail. Basically, u make another password for your account instead of using your own. It's normally used when your account is setup with multi-factor authentication (where you use your password and your phone to login) for things that don't work with multi-factor. I'm not sure if it can be used without MFA (as I use MFA on almost everything and I would recommend everyone to use it as well), but it seems like it. So, Charter lists port 587 as an alternative to port 25, and that worked! I swear I tried that before, but I'm happy nonetheless.

Sounds like Charter might block outbound 25, which a lot of ISP's block these days to combat infected resi computers sending junk emails. Glad you got it working.

It is because Google blocks sign-in attempts from apps which do not use modern security standards (mentioned on their support page). You can however, turn on/off this safety feature by going to the link below:

Go to this link and select Turn On
https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

Moreover google block an ip when you try to send a email since a unusual location, so, you can unblock in the next link
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6009563

and clicked in

accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha .
